I'm installing a console with gauges. Does anyone know if the wiring harness should go on top of the carpet (and firewall pad)? I might as well do it right, I'm thinking it goes on top of the carpet, but maybe it goes under it and you cut a slit in the carpet beneath the console to bring the wires up through. Same question with the firewall insulation pad. I could run the wires under the pad. Anyone know the correct routing? Thanks.

The factory routing took the harness down the drivers side of the heater box, there's a retaining clip to hold it in place. From there, it ran over the carpet and through the notch in the front of the console (68)
