We just layed one to rest (2002) and as far as I know there is no pic of a 2005 Camaro. but then if you work for GM and are at the top of the GM Structure we all would love to see one. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I like that concept art.
But that's a LONG way from there being definitive proof that the Camaro's going to be re-released. One of the big reasons I've always heard for the closure of the Camaro and Firebird line was that there wasn't enough interchangeability between the F-bodies and other cars. If that's any indicator, you can just about count on these being FWD with similar components as the ho-hum little brothers.

Give the guy a break. This was his very first post. I'm sure next time he will spell Camaro with an "A" and not an "E".

I thought it was a problem with side impact crash standards on the F-bodies.

what keeps the general from the aussie car here,is it the same crash standards,I believe they could get them to pass the sniffer.

Just got in from the WCA/CCI West Coast Nationals and talking with the WCA reps the Camaro is coming back. I also know for a fact that Chevrolet has received full size clay models from hotrod designers that were given instructions to "Make it Retro". I beleave it will be back and unlike the past Chevy has done it's homework.

None of the prototype pictures published in mag's or on the web have been from Chevrolet or been done at Chevrolets request. Take them for what they are, something to fill space and keep us reading!!

Welcome to some of the new names I'm seeing since my return.

DjD,
I've seen many a post and heard many a conversation about the possibility of a 5th gen Camaro, but until now I held out very little hope of ever seeing one. Especially seeing one done "RIGHT". The news that you've shared about full size retro inspired clay models at the General makes me feel there is reason to smile. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

Here's hoping and wishing for a true "retro" styled 5th gen Camaro.

Doug

The Camaro will definitely come back. It's one of the top 10 most recognized car models. You cannot buy that kind of "brand" recognition. So, it will definitely be back at some point.

The question isn't if, it's when and in what form.

It could be something like the Ford Thunderbird, where they try to reclaim some of the old nostalgic design. Or it could be like the Chevy Nova, where they completely destroy the mystique and appeal behind a model name.

Who knows. I'm guessing that they'll reinvent the Camaro in the same way that Ford reinvented the Thunderbird.

I have always been a "Die Hard" chevy fan.

With that being said, I have to state that I absolutly have no faith in CHEVROLET these days.

Clay mock ups are one thing. Building it and building it right, is another.

For instance...

Look how long it is taking them to release the SSR. (Supposedly in 2003?) I'm not sure it does it for me anyway.

Have you seen that "retro" Belair? Would you buy one based on the looks?

As for styling, they've ruined the Impala, the Malibu, the Monte (it's okay I guess) and now they ruined the Silverado! I would have bought one of those SS Silverados If they would have looked like that red one at the SEMA show. Have you seen the new Avalanche style grill on the new one? It doesn't work!

John Moss does alot of exercises that alway get scaled back (ie.the Extreme)

As for now, the only Chevy I can get exited over is the 'vette.

This really saddens me... but I can't help it. It's how I feel.

John

I think the "sE" Camero will be the one with the higher output 2.7 liter with a five-speed and the "rE" will be the standard 2.4 liter auto/OD powertrain with decorative trim and "sporty" lower valance turn signals.

Sorry ozzmEng149. Had to join in the fun...
