I have a 68 RS with a standard interior (Ivy Gold) that currently has a wood grained dash center and a black ashtray. Is it likely the dash center is correct for an RS with standard interior? Thanks.

It has the woodgrain trim on the dash with a black ashtray, and I'm pretty sure it's original. There was an option, RPO Z23 Special Interior, that consisted of woodgrain dash trim and custom steering wheel. The White Book says 57,098 of these were ordered, so it seems like a pretty common option. My guess is that your car had this option. Do you have the custom steering wheel? Kevin Green68RS Apr 28th, 05, 05:56 AM Hi Kevin, Thanks for the reply. Mine is also a convertible, although it is not quite in the condition of yours yet. I am glad to hear that the black ashtray may be original. Seems like the other 68 I had before this one had a woodgrain dash and ashtray. The steering wheel is custom also. The ashtray is the original. Here is a old post about the ashtray treatment - http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44701&highlight=ashtray%2A If you try a search enter a "*" after the word 'woodgrain' or 'ashtray' and you will get lots of past posts. Hopefully one of the CRG group will chime-in if they see this, with valid date(s) for the change to "woodgrain" ashtrays. *It's a 09A LOS car with a body number of 00095. John |
