I have a small tag attached to the cooling fins of my radiator. the tag reads 679 with a space or two and then the letter A. I know it is not the original radiator but I am questioning if this is even the right radiator for my application. (The radiator is saddle mounted not front mounted) Does the A denote for an automatic? Can anyone tell me what the correct application for this radiator is?
Thanks for the help.

Probably just a core tag. Autos have a cooler, manuals did not.

Kevin,
The A for Automatic was definately a stretch. :o But I was hoping someone could tell me the radiator application from the core tag as I thought all first gen ratiators were mounted by a bracket or tab attached to the front of the radiator. The one in my 67 has has a bracket that wraps around the end tanks.
Thanks for the help.

all fist gens'' were bolted to the radiator support via a bracket soldered onto each tank on the side.
Saddle mounting wasn't until 70(?)

Everette,
I guess maybe it isnt a real saddle mount. I was referring to it that way because the mounting brackets go from where they attach to the radiator support and wrap around both the sides and back of the end tanks. The radiator just doesnt look right to me. it has the correct attachment clips for the fan shroud, but the shroud and radiator seems to sit way to high. If the correct fan spacer length was used the fan would be chewing up the shroud pretty bad. Now I noticed the fan shroud part number says it is for a 69 small block. Are there any differences between the 67 small block shroud and the 69?
Thanks,
Victor
