View Full Version : Bizarre color combo! mr69 Apr 26th, 05, 09:25 PM what? really bizarre color combo, check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6161&item=4545854329&rd=1 Obxhokie Apr 26th, 05, 09:38 PM Can you say color clash. Maybe the original owner was color blind  I won't even comment on the rest of the car. :D Victor RamAirDave Apr 26th, 05, 10:07 PM Very interesting combo, to say the least. Mustve written down the wrong int code on the order sheet, but you never know. Cars decent, driver quality. Buy It Now price is way high, though. dave SnakeEyes Apr 26th, 05, 10:17 PM that almost hurts jackr Apr 26th, 05, 10:25 PM That can't be on purpose, probably was a mistake on someones order form. This is one case where the numbers don't have to, or should not be matched. RamAirDave Apr 27th, 05, 01:18 AM If the #s match, and theres paperwork, then theres probably a market for it. I think its interesting and kinda like that they put it back the way it was made. There were a lot of "interesting" combo cars. I prefer this car to one that has been changed to red/black like a lot have been. But rare doesnt equal desireable. And $31.5k for a SB 68 is much, even a RS. It would have to be a dead-on, 980 car to get close. dave DOUG G Apr 27th, 05, 07:48 AM Stuck in the 60's ? Too many "hits" ? WOW  bad thing to see when you just woke up. Just not for me. klingrr Apr 27th, 05, 08:07 AM Man is that LOUD...... sicsD8 Apr 27th, 05, 09:18 AM "Only $ 31k and we'll even throw in a Ford fan sticker !" 67rsssvert Apr 27th, 05, 09:18 AM Wow, um, ok. At least it'd never get confused with the other Camaros out there. Scott Taylor Apr 27th, 05, 09:40 AM "Only $ 31k and we'll even throw in a Ford fan sticker !" Hey, what's up with those Ford fan stickers anyway? I've seen at least 5 Camaro's with one of those on it and every time I scratch my head and wonder why anyone would do that to a Camaro. There was an ebay auction a couple of months ago for a COPO car that had the Ford fan sticker on it. What's the deal? Everett#2390 Apr 27th, 05, 10:00 AM Probably belongs to a red haired person, hence the green interior. This is the second car I've seen like this. DjD Apr 27th, 05, 10:01 AM I think that's the cub scout edition!! The car's not a real SS "THIS CAR IS A TRUE RALLY SPORT, AND A COPY OF THE WINDOW STICKER WILL GO TO THE WINNING BIDDER. THE CAR ALSO HAS SS TRIM WHICH LOOKS AWESOME.". No 12 bolt, big block hood loovers and tail pan paint... It's not got the factory drive train as stated "THIS RALLY SPORT STILL SPORTS THE CORRECT FACTORY COLORS, MOTOR AND DRIVE TRAIN" unless the intake, alt location and water pump have been upgraded. The air cleaner sticker says either 327 or 427 ;) This is a nice driver that should bring just shy of $20K if the pic's are representive of the true condition. camaroman7d Apr 27th, 05, 10:20 AM My question is, Why keep that interior if the car is not original? Electric fuel pump, headers, etc.. I like the Butternut Yellow but, the interior does not even come close to matching, it might as well have red interior. I don't know how original the car is, it looks pretty nice. Obviously not worth the asking price though. Scott Taylor Apr 27th, 05, 10:26 AM My question is, Why keep that interior if the car is not original? Probably just because it is expensive to change the entire interior, especially with the Deluxe interior option. BLADE4444 Apr 27th, 05, 11:09 AM Just a quick question, whats with the ptb on the firewall? Ive seen it on other cars but im not sure what it stands for. Vintage 68 Apr 27th, 05, 11:33 AM Just a quick question, whats with the ptb on the firewall? Ive seen it on other cars but im not sure what it stands for. P = paint T = trim B = body Line inspection marks - often reapplied by 'restifiers' to make the car look more original for buyers... sicsD8 Apr 27th, 05, 11:44 AM Hey, what's up with those Ford fan stickers anyway? I've seen at least 5 Camaro's with one of those on it and every time I scratch my head and wonder why anyone would do that to a Camaro. There was an ebay auction a couple of months ago for a COPO car that had the Ford fan sticker on it. What's the deal? Yeah, I've never been able to figure out how these guys attempt to restore a car down to the original firewall chalk marks and spring tags, but then slap on a 'caution-fan' sticker that never came on that make/model??? Maybe they're afraid of a lawsuit if someone loses a finger while looking over the car! 67ss350camaro Apr 27th, 05, 12:04 PM Very weird restoration. I have a picture of the cowl tag. The colors are correct on the car, but not much else. The car was a RS LF7/M20 car. No bumper guards, no deluxe seat belts, Not a powerglide car. Why change all of these things and leave the interior color original??? Uncle Tupelo Apr 27th, 05, 01:17 PM I didn't think, based on looking at it, that it was a true SS....y'all have made me far too picky just from hanging out here:). I wasn't going to mention it since I am still an infant in a room full of grown men when it comes to spotting things...but I'm learning. Wouldn't the SS have had a different motor than the 327...that's what Iwas thinking anyway...could be wrong. All in all...a pretty car albeit for the interior color in my opinion. I also noticed the fan sticker.....I think they are giving them out at Wendy's now ! Anyway...thanks to all of you fro truning me into one of you!!!! I'm loving it! camaroman7d Apr 27th, 05, 01:17 PM Daniel that's exactly what I was saying. Sure changing the interior is not cheap, I doubt that is the original interior anyway (original color, but has been replaced). The amount he is going to lose on the sell would more than pay for nice matching interior. The car is not "correct" so it doesn't matter. Most "collector" types aren't going to be interested anyway. 67ss350camaro Apr 27th, 05, 01:22 PM Uncle Tupelo, Yes you are correct. NO first gen Camaro SS had a 327 engine! MrDanB Apr 27th, 05, 01:23 PM Yowzers! :clonk: I didn't know Cheech Marin ever owned a first gen :D Dano Uncle Tupelo Apr 27th, 05, 01:39 PM Uncle Tupelo, Yes you are correct. NO first gen Camaro SS had a 327 engine! Yeah, that was the very first thing I saw and didn't think a 67 SS would have a 327 in it. I also didn't think those were deluxe seatbelts because I have deluxe seatbelts and mine are silver with the carraige on the tab. I am becoming a certified picky SOB. 67CruiseMasterCamaro Apr 27th, 05, 01:50 PM Hey guys, whats wrong with turquoise!!! Yah the color of Butternut isn't right! But the interior is cool! Not too many cars with that nowadays. Personally, I think the Butternut is not easy on the eyes. But if the car was black, then it would be really cool. I agree with most of you though, the color combo musta been an error when it was submitted for order, if that is the original colors. Notice you don't see his documentation or trim tag on his auction. I think a rat is in our midst!!! 67ss350camaro Apr 27th, 05, 02:01 PM Hey guys, whats wrong with turquoise!!! Notice you don't see his documentation or trim tag on his auction. I think a rat is in our midst!!! No, believe it or not, you could order any color combo, but if it was not one of the suggested combos, and this one was not, the dealer had to go an extra step after the order was submitted and verify that the color combo was indeed what was ordered. Not sure what you mean by "a rat is in our midst". I got the owner to send me a picture of the cowl tag and the color combo is correct. paulm Apr 27th, 05, 03:12 PM That color combo definitely clashes, but my 67 RS/SS car has much worse factory colors (IMHO) than this one. Think back to 1967 and here comes a brand new RS/SS, deluxe interior, four speed, console, gauges, etc camaro, cool.....That is until you see that it is Sierra Fawn with Yellow deluxe interior!!!! What were they thinking!?!?! Uncle Tupelo Apr 27th, 05, 04:36 PM Personally I have no issue with the interior color Turquoise...I just don't much care for it in this car with that exterior (which actually happens to be in my top two colors, I LOVE butternut yellow cars). I doubt the guy is trying to purposely mislead anyone, or that he is a "rat". 67CruiseMasterCamaro Apr 27th, 05, 06:06 PM Daniel, the quip was in reference to the tag info. While I was typing in a reply to the post others has already sent theirs. Mine was just slow. Anyways, it was in reference to the cowl tag being odd because of the color compatiblity. Unc Topelo, I love the turquiose color. My car is colored with exterior and interior color. I guess it didn't sell well, but it is really striking. Especially in person. To each his own I guess. SnakeEyes Apr 27th, 05, 09:57 PM hmmmm guys, while working I have found a 1968 Camaro base 350....it looks to be all original just sitting since it died whenever everythings there, just old and..... plently of rust needs quarters, fenders, truck lid(bent up like someone pryed it open), maybe a tail light panel and has a busted grille. Has the base wheels also, painted red(chrome cap), it looks like the car was red 37 years ago... haven't moved in a long time I think, and it just sits under a carport with the windows down. from what I have seen. they people aslo have a 70 chevelle that needs restoring, but they drive it. If I get a place to put it in the next 6 months, should I try to pick it up? rolling-robert Apr 28th, 05, 09:58 AM well i kinda like the interior combo, and i love the yellow, but i dont like the exhaust hugging the driveshaft. quick have a look! |
