Ah. Is that like 100 Octane Avgas? If it is you can get it at any small plane airport.

scott, its better than aviation gas. i have a GETTY station that has aviation pump, 100+ right next to the regular pumps. it states low lead on the pump.

Call your local speed shop they should either sell it or tell you where to buy it.

Are you set on Cam2 or will any of the other brands suit you? (VP, 76, Trick, etc...).

AV gas is for airplanes race fuel is for cars.

What about VP? Sometimes you you can buy it in its own 5 gal. can. :)

Royce,

I'm not a racer so I'm kind of ignorant about the various fuels but I was hopeing you could fill me in on the difference between Avgas and race fuel. Is it some kind of additive? I have used Avgas in my Camaro and it really likes the stuff.

Scott.

Scott,
The formula is different. I know a lot of people use it in their cars. If you jet and tune accordingly I guess it's fine (if you are going to run it all the time). AV gas is designed to work at altitude (less oxygen up there). This has been discussed on the site many times and as with most things you will hear people say they use it and others say not to. I did some reading up on it a long time ago and dont remember all the details but, I came away knowing it was not "good" for automotive use.

CAM2 and Sunoco GT100 are the same thing. Here is a link that will help you find a local distributor. I get GT100 from a local Sunoco Station - it's a regular gasoline pump, so bring the car or your own jugs.

Nice tool. I was going to tell you this place:
Prospect Point Sunoco
224 Route 35 North
Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742
(732) 295-3377

There used to be a place near Allentown NJ, but they do not have it anymore.

Where are you in NJ?

In my area I know where to get CAM 2 @ the pump, or if you want VP fuel I know a distributor.

Great info! I have been mixing 40%/60%, 100 low lead avgas with 93 pump gas for years. It's a pain in the a** and time consuming! Thanks for the GT100 locator. You guys made my day!

I went to a local station that had Cam2. I pulled up to the pump and the guy flipped out. Could only pump into a car on trailer without tags or into fuel jugs/cans. Has a sticker on the pump "Off road use only".
At the track its a different story.

Doug, I just called my local station that has this fuel and he said it was OK to just pull up to the pumps and fill up the car. He carries 100 no lead at $3.99/gal and 110 leaded at $4.13/gal. Both are ethenol free. I wonder if our state laws are different.

Sunoco GT100 is unleaded and street legal. The leaded 110 is not street legal. -Neil

I thought leaded gas was a federal/DOT no no for the street ? Kind of like dyed diesel (not road taxed and not legal for street use = big fine $$$).

Leaded gas will wipe out cat converters and may not safe for injected stuff, from what I have read. I thought this stuff was gone completely now.

That is probably because the CAM 2 fuel and other "off road" fuels have not been priced to include the "motor fuels sales tax". If you use it in a boat you are eligible for a "motor fuels tax refund". Depending on the state where you live it can be a significant amount of money. Here in VA it is 17 1/2 cents per gallon. All I do is send them receipts and a form and get a check. Here is a link to the VA website for anyone in VA.
