I have bought 2 sets of GM mirrors only to have them loose. I posted earlier up in body shop but have not gotten any good responses. Although I have learned hgow to fix them. I'm to the point I just want to buy 2 new ones with mounts and gaskets. It seems if I get good mirrors the dang gaskets dont fit or the mounts suck. Ricks told me today they know the problem I'm having but their supplier for the good American repros is on back order. Who else can solve this problem I have tried NPD with the same answers. Ground Up or Year One? Latlely I have been thinking of early 2nd gen bullits but when did they change to that style? The reason I'm asking is I have heard the mounts are the same, but as a 1st gen man I dont know where to start looking for 2nd gen stuff.
Thanks all,
Mike

I got a repro from Ground Up for my Chevelle. Mirror was fine, but the gasket sucked (didn't come close to fitting). I used the original and was fine. Maybe try a junk yard and see if they can find you a decent gasket?
Also, I kept the original mirror, though, 'cause the mirror is dated coded. Chrome was a little pitted, only reason I replaced it.

when you say "GM mirrors" are you talking about the mirrors still available from GM or repros??
both side mirrors are still available thru GM, pricey but allll GM.
www.gmpartsdirect.com can at least get you the part numbers, then go to your local dealer since partsdirect has rather high shipping.
here i did the homework for you:
LH mirror
3914753
$118.90
RH mirror
3914754
$121.82
support bracket
7790753
$25.60 each
gasket
3874250
$1.31 box of five (only 2 required)
screw
11504659
.67 per box of 10
roughly $300 for both mirrors and all hardware needed to mount. sell whatever is left on Ebay as NOS and make your money back from somebody who didn't read this.
