The first question that I would ask you in answering your query is how much idling and low speed cruising do you do typically?

The reason I am asking is a typical 100 amp alternator may only output 65 amps at idle and low rpms. With the MarkVIII gobbling up 40ish amps, add another 10 for the ignition, 10 for the fuel pump, 10 for the lights......well you get the idea! Not enough.

I would recommend a 140 amp "high output" model from TuffStuff that puts out around 90 amps at idle. This also depends on your pulleys ratios too, so no "underdrive" pulleys I hope?
