Going to look at a 67 RS/SS 350 4spd forsale. Has fold down rear seat and headrests....so I'm told. How can I confirm the headrests and what else should I look for?
Thanks,
Chuck

Thanks, Chuck squarles Apr 28th, 05, 07:58 AM Lots of info here http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#67Codes Stephen Scott Taylor Apr 28th, 05, 07:59 AM If it originally had bucket seats with the head rests there will be a Y after the seat type code on the trim tag. For example 765Y would indicate custom black bucket seats with head rests. chuckm Apr 28th, 05, 09:05 AM Thanks.....lots of good info. Should this car have a Cowl hood or an SS finned hood? squarles Apr 28th, 05, 09:27 AM SS hood with fins, 12 bolt and brackets for the radius rod are also required with the SS. sicsD8 Apr 28th, 05, 09:57 AM No cowl hoods (super scoop) until 69. Smoke'm Apr 28th, 05, 10:28 AM SS hood with fins, 12 bolt and brackets for the radius rod are also required with the SS. not 100% correct...early cars had no bar..get all the trim tag info and report back. Jonesy Apr 28th, 05, 10:31 AM Chuck If you pass on it let me know, I need the headrest seats for my car and I may just have to buy a car to get them. Like it was mentioned above, there should be a Y after the trim code. Mine is 717 Y BonzoHansen Apr 28th, 05, 11:33 AM Is the car in NJ? What kind of shape is it in (ready to rock or parts?) I might want to look at it too, if you pass. chuckm Apr 28th, 05, 12:28 PM  Here's the report....just got back: Wild goose chase.....wasn't a real SS. guy didn't have keys. Wrong motor in car, claims he has the correct block but it wasn't there. Body has rust, but repairable, all chrome is shot, rear floorpans are rusted thru, couldn't open trunk or drivers door, couldn't get VIN. Has console with gauges. 5K RPM redline on tach. Multi rear leaf springs, 12 bolt rear. Was a real RS from trim tag. Did have headrests on seats, but they weren't suppose to be in that car according to trim tag. Car is black, should be Mountain Green. Has power brakes, drums all the way around. Manual steering. Has 4 speed, didn't check numbers. Numbers from trim tag: 04A - built first week of April E - Black interior 760-Z - standard black buckets H-2 - Mountain Green with black top (car didn't have vinyl top now) 2LG - 4 speed with console 3L - RS option That's it, nothing under 1, 4 or 5 option groups. If you guys want more info let me know....He's asking $12500 for the car. I'm still thinking, but won't pay that much. Chuck 67ss350camaro Apr 28th, 05, 01:16 PM Chuck, I would like the data for CRG's data base. If you can get the vin# and the body# on the trim tag, I can log it. Thanks, BonzoHansen Apr 28th, 05, 02:36 PM Power 4W drum? I didn’t even realize they did that. Huh. Learned something new. If he gets 12.5 for that, wow, I am out of touch on prices. It sounds like nothing is right, originality-wise. And it doesn’t even sound that nice (rust issues, etc.) Smoke'm Apr 28th, 05, 04:43 PM were the seats 67 for sure??? were you able to snap any pics???? Bud. chuckm Apr 28th, 05, 06:23 PM Sorry...didn't get the VIN couldn't open the drivers door. Didn't get the body# either after looking at the tag I was a little disgusted it wasn't what was advertised, SS with headrests....NOT. I'm pretty sure they were 67 seats, they looked just like my 67 with standard interior, the covers were ripped though. I've never seen a 67 with headrests so I'm not sure. The were not 69 that's for sure, and I thought 68 had a different pattern in the vinyl. Didn't bring my camera, unprepared, sorry. Thought I'd be going back to buy it, but I'm gonna pass. It's in Brick, NJ at Redline Performance on Rt 88 if anyone is interested. Guy said it's going on ebay Sunday, but I don't think he'll get what he wants for it...... thorpe67RS Apr 28th, 05, 06:49 PM $12,500? I know we tend to have to pay more in the northeast but that sounds way off for a car with that many issues. Although it wouldnt surprise me if someone came along and gave him that. Smoke'm Apr 28th, 05, 09:35 PM depends how rough the rust is.. I consider a roller coupe thats not rusty... like ZERO rust southern car worth at least 10 all day long probably more..so he may be a little high but not crazy high for the heap he has...I want the seats but know Jonesy has been looking for awhile. Bud. chuckm May 20th, 05, 07:30 PM Car showed up on ebay....missed it, at least he didn't try to pawn it off as a SS anymore. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4549512844&category=6161 Smoke'm May 20th, 05, 11:30 PM decent old heap... sicsD8 May 21st, 05, 07:31 AM He stated that it was ordered with 350 engine which could only be ordered with an SS, so his info in the ad was still incorrect. Jonesy May 21st, 05, 07:43 AM Those look to be the correct 67 headrest seats. |
