View Full Version : Fresh weatherstrip question???
2tontruck Apr 28th, 05, 02:59 PM I am having problems with the doors shutting after I installed the weatherstrip around the doors. The doors were fitting great and still are but they shut very hard. Is there anyway to soften these up after they have been installed? I have left the doors closed for about a month and still no luck with these things. Any suggestions?
trentonZ28 Apr 28th, 05, 06:40 PM I think that you'll have to live with for now. It should, over time, get better.
Some weatherstripping is softer then others. I got the Metro brand and didn't have any problems. I've heard that Soffseal make the doors very hard to close.

blk/gld 68 Apr 28th, 05, 06:59 PM oh yeah,i know the feeling! i have soff-seal and i have to slam the doors to get them shut flush. "they" say it will get better with time,i think it sucks now! i have heard that the STEELE RUBBER PRODUCTS are real good, and you don't have that problem. i might take them out and buy STEELE.
g.w.steelman Apr 28th, 05, 07:15 PM steele just got mine doors shut perfect .
RamAirDave Apr 28th, 05, 08:30 PM The Soff Seal stuff has always been like that. Havent used it in a long time, but it was like that then, and apparantely still is.
I use Metro, havent tried Steele. The Metro looks and fits well, and you wont have to "slam" to close.

2tontruck Apr 29th, 05, 06:54 AM These are OER brand. Who makes them for OER. I have also used Metro brand on a Chevelle before and they did work well. Maybe I will just have to bite the bullet and order a diffrent set. This @#$&%*!! stinks!
trentonZ28 Apr 29th, 05, 08:11 AM Metro has a website, can't recall what it is at the moment, where you can buy directly from them. I got mine on e-bay several years ago. I'm not familiar with the other brand.

sick67 Apr 29th, 05, 09:03 AM I've had the soff seal on my car since October which I had to slam the doors. My car isn't on the road yet but going in and out constantly they are getting much easier to close.
