MagicRatt Apr 29th, 05, 02:51 PM Anyone recognize these numbers?? I found this carb buried in my garage and can't seem to figure out why I have it. It is a vacuum secondary carb with the numbers......3418-1 and 3886091-AN. I have some holley info but have come up dry.
Thanks......Rich

al8apexer Apr 30th, 05, 02:48 PM My Holley book lists 3418 as 1966 Corvette 427 425 hp and the 3418-1 as 1966-67 Corvette 427 425 HP
JohnZ Apr 30th, 05, 04:39 PM My Holley book lists 3418 as 1966 Corvette 427 425 hp and the 3418-1 as 1966-67 Corvette 427 425 HP
Nope - the only Chevrolet production application for the 3418 carburetor was the '67 L88. '66 Corvette 427/425hp used a 3247, and there is no such thing as a '67 Corvette 427/425hp.; the only '67 Corvette solid-lifter 427 with a 4-barrel was the L88 (430hp). :)
al8apexer May 1st, 05, 10:48 AM just going by the official Holley book .....
dyno jonn May 1st, 05, 12:24 PM 830-850 cfm.............
MagicRatt Sep 16th, 06, 12:36 PM I dug this post up to see if anyone could come up with factory jetting for this 3418 carb?? I have been using this carb on my 70 camaro most of the summer but seem to be having trouble getting the right plug color. I've been told 80 and 88 and I am now using 76 and 84 and still showing a fat condition. Any ideas???

firstgenaddict Sep 16th, 06, 12:44 PM If I were you I would ebay that damn thing it has got to be worth a fortune... only 20 L-88's made in 67.
onovakind67 Sep 16th, 06, 12:49 PM My old Holley catalog shows this:
R3418-1AAS - 855 cfm - 1-9/16" venturis, 1-3/4" throttles
Primary jets: 22BP-40-78 on the choke lever side, 22BP-40-80 on the throttle lever side
Secondary jets: 22BP-40-80 on the throttle lever side, 22BP-40-82 on the choke lever side
Power valve - 25BP-595A-65
Renew kit - 37-404
Trick kit - 37-908
MagicRatt Sep 16th, 06, 01:39 PM Thanks guys.......just what I was looking for. A simple starting point. I will assume they recommend the stagger jetting when using the stock intake. Sounds like it might be worth a try..........

z28doug Sep 16th, 06, 06:32 PM Rich,
firstgenaddict's post is what I was thinking. The money that carb is worth would buy you a nice new, custom jetted carb plus you would have money in your pocket.

MagicRatt Sep 16th, 06, 06:44 PM LOL...yeah I been thinking about that all day!! I am not sure if I could sell it right now cause the damn thing runs so good. I have a friend in Jersey who owns a Corvette shop. He found me a buyer for a big block tri-power intake I had a few years ago so I am going to give him a shout first thing next week just for ****s and giggles........
firstgenaddict Sep 17th, 06, 09:27 AM I have seen original ZL1 carbs go for as much as 10,000 (crazy if you ask me) so who knows what a 67 L88 carb is worth????
z28doug Sep 17th, 06, 10:08 AM Here are a couple of '69 carbs for comparison. Would these be service replacements for the '67? I know the date code is critical as far as value. I found out the hard way how much more a mid production year '69 Z carb was worth. :clonk:

z28doug Sep 19th, 06, 08:37 PM Is there a date code on the carb?
Doug
MagicRatt Sep 20th, 06, 03:30 PM Good question.......where do I look? There are no tags anywhere and it does not have the correct metering blocks at this time. I will see if I can post a pic.......

The date code is stamped just below the LIST number on the front side of the choke air horn. Carb should look like the photo below if it's a production-line '67 L-88 carb (note the spring holding the choke permanently open).
