View Full Version : I Found 3 point seatbelts for first gen's
LukeSkywalker Apr 29th, 05, 07:50 PM In the June 2005 Car Craft there is a small article about shoulder seat belts for first generations. The seller is Morris Classic Concepts (864) 987-0032; e-mail is morrisclassic@yahoo.com. The selling price is $239 for the pair. I'm not sure if they are worth the price but something to look at.
rs327camaro May 2nd, 05, 12:38 PM Just and FYI:
I just contacted them to get some more info, very fast response. Here is there response:
Thanks for your interest in our products.
The seatbelts use the factory mounting locations.
We use stainless brackets and Grade 8 bolts also
all bolts in assembly are TIG welded for safety.
No modifications to the interior of the car except
these are comfortable to wear and you will enjoy
your ride more. All USA made materials and labor.
We also have mirror polished stainless brackets for
the heater hoses, wire harness & a/c lines.
If we can be of any further assistance let us know

Brian Lewis May 2nd, 05, 01:56 PM Anyone know if these reel up into the headliner area or floor when you unbuckle? Or are they exact stock replacement type where you have a separate lap/shoulder buckle? Looking for newer style single buckle near console, where the shoulder strap reels up into a reel mounted on the factory hole area in the headliner or into the reel on the floor near the doors.
jg95z28 May 2nd, 05, 02:13 PM As discussed in the other thread, Rick's First gen sells the same belts for $299.99. However if you read the catalog, you'll notice that is says Morris Classic Concepts is a distributor and doesn't actually manufacture the belts. Well I found some replacement retractable belts that look simlar to the ones in Rick's catalog for a lot less money... $69.95 ea to be exact. ($159.80 for a pair with mounting hardware.)

Here's Rick's photo of the Morris Classic Concepts version:

Anyway, its another option...
HwyStarJoe May 2nd, 05, 06:10 PM Billy Morris told me last night that their Frist Gen retractable seat belts are $239 right now. Ricks sells them and must mark them up.
Morris's web site isn't ready yet.

Nantooch May 2nd, 05, 07:25 PM I'll know more about the Morris belts tomorrow. mine should be coming in. .I'll have photos once they are installed.
morrisclassic May 2nd, 05, 07:42 PM We don't actually make the seatbelt reel assembly, but we do make and assemble the
brackets to fit specific cars. We mount to the factory mounting places in the car,
which is the safest and only place seatbelt attachments should be connected in a stock vehicle. The price we offer now is an introductory price.
67CamaroHawaii May 2nd, 05, 08:15 PM MorrisClassic,
How well do these belts work with aftermarket seats. I'm installing a set of ProCar Magnum seats in my 67 camaro, and would like to use a 3 point seatbelt system as well. Also, how much would these cost with shipping to Hawaii?
Thanks,
Chuck
morrisclassic May 2nd, 05, 08:58 PM Chuck,
I don't know how they would work with afteermarket seats. Measure the clearance between the seat and the door panel. The reel needs 3.375 inches to mount there .
As for shipping I'll check ,if you have the clearance you need. The seatbelts are 239.95 plus shipping.
Thanks for your interest e-mail morrisclassic@yahoo.com

adamsdo May 3rd, 05, 07:54 AM Jeff, I have been in a car with these seatbelts installed and you will never be able to find anything any better. Quality and workmanship of the hardware is excellent and the belts themself are also of high quality. There easy to use. comfortable to wear even on long trips. If they would fit my 57 Chevy I would buy a set today. Also the safety is the most important thing.
Mkelcy May 3rd, 05, 08:12 AM Does morrisclassic or anyone else have pictures of these belts installed? I have three point retractable belts installed in my '68. There are two issues. First, when the reel is mounted at the factory seat belt point behind the seat along the rocker panel it interferes with the front seats. Second the shoulder belt mounting point is located very far behind the front seats and the belt tends to ride on your neck. How have the Morris Classic belts fixed these issues?
morrisclassic May 3rd, 05, 08:35 AM Mike,
This is Billy with Morris Classic Concepts, llc. E-mail me at morrisclassic@yahoo.com and I will send you pictures of our seatbelts in a Camaro. Our seatbelts do not interfere with the seat operation. The seatbelt reel mounts beside the seat, and also mount in the factory mounting holes..Our seatbelts definately don't ride up on one's neck. I know the type seatbelt you are speaking of.
Thank You, Billy

Shot 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/SIBLY/Cars/P1010216.jpg)
Billy tells me they have 3-points for Camaro,Nova, Firebird & Chevelle-1966-1973
Let me know if you have any trouble with the pictures..
HwyStarJoe May 4th, 05, 07:41 PM Definitely won't rub on your neck. But I'm concerned with the retractor sticking out far enough to put a dent in the door panel. Looks sort of 'large'.
morrisclassic May 4th, 05, 08:10 PM Yes it is close, there's not but 3.375" of clearance there.
My Camaro doesn't have a dent in the door panel but it is
up against the panel.

Nantooch May 5th, 05, 07:25 PM Posted my pics from the install of the belts. They look nice!
Nantooch May 7th, 05, 11:05 PM Just a word to say thanks to 007 for the nice comments on the car.. Can't wait to see your's in the daylight as well.

Looks good. Did you have to pull off the headliner and drill into the frame for this install, or were the screw holes already drilled? Also, is your retractor hitting the trim panels?
