I just pulled my leaf springs out yesterday, and the front end of the springs looks very different than I have seen before. The spring eye on front end of the spring looks like it is half gone, like it was cut off or something. Does anyone have a picture so I can reference this thing. None of the parts suppliers have a good picture of it, so I'll turn to the experts. Thanks

Mine were the same way due to rust. After I pulled the front spring mount out of the torque boxes, the springs fell off the front eye bushing. The spring eye should completely surround the bushing.

Well, there goes another few hundred bucks I won't be able to see unless I crawl underneath. :) Thank you for the info. :)

Well it would make it easier to pull out. But I'd be scared to drive on them if I knew they were like that.

Since you need to install new ones anyway, JCWhitney.com has mono replacements (but are 3 leaf) for cheap (68-72 Nova) that a few guy here run and say they're good. But if you're building a "correct" car, they wouldn't pass.

That is what mine look like. My bushing was torn all heck, and the spring looks
like it has seen better days.

I'd like to have correct, but this project is a driver/cruiser, and maybe for what I am doing, a three leaf setup would be fine. I would prefer the monoleaf, but for the difference in price, and the posibility of a beter ride, I am loooking at the three leaf as well. I have some time, so maybe someone here that did a multi-leaf swap has a set they want to sell. :)

I just switched my 68 from mono's to Hotchkis leafs. They have only been on for one season and are complete with poly bushings. Email me if interested.

I don't think ANYBODY has re-popped CORRECT, double-tapered mono leaf springs!

They are rolled wide and thin on each end and narrow and thick in the middle is why. Plus they have a locating "tit" in the "about" middle on the botom to locate the rearend.

WOW! That's scary!

You mean they aren't suppose to look that way?:D

Both of them were that bad. If I'd known they were that bad off, I wouldn't have waited 3yrs. to replace them.
