Well, I got my 85 Chevy back from the body shop yesterday. The total bill was $2028. That total disassembly, strip paint down to the metal, install new rocker panel, new inner fender, patch panels behind rear wheel wells, and patch lower corner of one door, paint inside of truck, paint the chassis under the bed, paint both sides of the hood, behind the grill, paint outside of truck, clear coat, color sand, buff, then reassemble truck and install four new ball joints in the front end. He did all of the work with the exception of the interior. I removed the old interior and reinstalled the new. That price included parts, supplies, and labor, although I did go and buy some stuff on my own, like tail lights, new door rubber, etc. I was very pleased with his work, especially for the money.

I still have some work left to do. I still have to finish installing the interior. There are just a few items left to put in. I also have to get and install the body molding along the sides of the truck, the fender opening chrome, install the emblems on the fenders, clean and install the tailgate band, paint the wheels, and few other odds and ends.

Anyway, here is a link to the pics. I took pictures all through the painting process. Someday, I need to put together a web site.

I would love to own a truck again... and I really like the older ones. I personally think you probably got one of the last real bargains out there with that price.

very nice for sure, and a lot of work for that price, too. I needa find a different body shop, been quoted $2500 for a smooth, scuff n shoot, no jambs, no color change!
