I am doin g a little tinkering on my 69/rs today and have a question on a certian feature,
Door buzzer, When driver door opens, is buzzer to sound now, or only if key was left in the ignition? Also is passenger side to set off buzzer too?? Thanks Chuck.
Right now only driver side door when open with key in or out is making buzzer sound.

That feature only operates off the driver's door switch - if you open the door with the key fully seated in the ignition switch, the buzzer goes off. If you pull the key out about 1/8", that opens the internal contacts and the buzzer won't sound. :)

Mine is buzzing with door open, key out of switch, So Sounds like contacts in ign. switch is sticking? Yes? While on the subject of ign. switchs, How does a person cut a new set of keys if I only have 1 set? Dont want to make a copy off these, Since they show alot of wear, Why cut a new/worn key? Whats best way to tackle this?

if you still have the key "knockouts" with the numbers in them, a dealer or good locksmith can make some up. You could by a replacement cylinder from any repro house.

My key buzzer works like yours... after careful consideration and considering that I often listen to the stereo while not driving or even sitting in the car, I pulled the pink / black stripe wire off the horn relay to silence it.

you might pull the door jamb switch and see if there is still a plastic insulater between the two contacts. if the dome light circuit is making contact with the other spade on the switch it might make the buzzer sound.

Do all 69's have a door buzzer? Now that I think about it, mine doesn't buzz. Not sure if this is because it was an option and I don't have one or if it's not working.

all cars from 68 up had them, federal reg. They often don't work in various ways. System includes an extra switch in the ignition to tell if the key is in, a 2 pole switch on the drivers door, and a pink wire with a black stripe that runs to the horn relay. Bet someone got tired of all the racket and pulled that wire.

The horn relay actually buzzes. You probably have broken contacts in the steering column or a bad relay.

If you really want to get to the source of your key buzzer problem, the following scan contains four pages of diagnosis from a Saginaw repair manual.

http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/KeyBuzzerDiagnosis.doc

It is posted over at the Corvette section but the diagnosis is generic for all GM locking columns from 1969 through the 70s.

If you decide the problem is actually the key buzzer switch or your lock cylinder, there are more papers posted at www.corvettefaq.com/A-car.asp that describe in detail how to disassemble the Saginaw standard (non-adjustable) column or the tilt steering column. (You will need Paper #1 and Pic #1 in order to repair the switch and/or the lock cylinder.)

My horn relay buzzes when it wants to. I'm not going to worry about it.

I had a set of replacement keys made from my worn set and they look like brand new keys.

My buzzer sometimes sounds if the key is removed from the ignition. I jiggle the front of the keyswitch and it quits.

If you really what a perfect duplicate key and do not have the original knock outs you can remove a door lock cylinder and a locksmith can get a key code off the side of the cylinder. I had to do this 20+ yrs ago when I lost my only set of keys to my camaro.
