Just a quick update from the Hot August Night's Silver Auction -
I work the auction every year with the Reno Studebaker Club - we bring the cars from the display area to the "block"....
There were more Camaro's this year than ever before - most were fresh restorations -
3 or 4 Yenko clones -
Lot's of '69 Z's -
6 or 7 convertibles -
1 1967 Pace Car (real deal)
1 67 L30/M20
1 69 Z10
rest of the field were mixed RS's SS's
Since I was working I didn't get the prices on all of them - but a few stood out....
67 Pace Car didn't make reserve first day ($57,000 reserve) - sold Sat for $49,500 - was a gorgeous restoration - #'s match engine
69 Z28 clone (nicely done - DZ block - etc) - $37,000 (I think someone didn't catch the fact that it was a clone - didn't say it was clone - but didn't hide the fact either - was announced as a '69 RS)
69 Convertible - $26,000 (nice paint (fresh) - but skimpped on the body work - waves, uneven big gap at door/front fender) -
69 Hardtop 4spd 350 - $18,000 - cowl hood - chrome rims - nice daily driver.
Very nice, clean 67 RS older paint job, good original shape - 327 PG - $17,500
Almost all of them had Cowl Hoods (did Chevy make any flat hoods???) and chrome rims....
About half sold - the other half didn't make reserve and most had "let's make a deal" signs on them later...
Majority of auction was Camaro / Chevelle / GTO / 55-57 Chevy's / Hot Rods ..... not as many ford products as prior years - just a few T-birds (I drove one across the block that the guy bought on Thurs for $23,000 then sold it Sat for $27,000)- 66 Vette customized sold for $66,000 - 55 Bel Air Convert $55,000 -
Anyway - smaller auction than prior - but still fun....
