i am looking for some places to pull oil pressure for a BBC... I know one spot is the plug right above the oil filter but is there any other place i can get this from too? I see 2 other plugs on the same side of the motor i am thinking one is water and the other oil?

The 1/8" NPT plugs that are just above the pan rail go into an oil gallery, but if it's a clearance problem at the normal location, how about using a 90* fitting?

The big Autometer sending unit for a electrical gauge even fits on cars with headers doing it that way.

There is also a 1/4" pipe plug at the very front of the block in line with the 1/8" plugs on the LH side.

I know this is an old post, but what if you were to hook up into one of the oil galley plugs along the block. I have the factory console oil prseeure guage in my 69 convert and it is a real son of @$*! to get to with headers and a 90 degree elbow ! Any suggestions ? Thanks !!

If you use the OE clip (L35/A9 (#3784832)) on the rear exhaust manifold bolt and then use a couple of battery positive cable clips (L35/A10), you should be able to run the oil pressure line safely to the front-most npt plug on the side of the left rail.. That's what I did. I also sleeved the pressure line in MSD's HeatGuard sleeving just in case..

I have some pics, but will have to upload later.. (Imageshack are doing some maintenace.)

(I once had my oil pressure line rupture when contacting the exhaust header and saw an instant oil pressure loss.. I crapped myself! -but was so relieved to see a puddle of oil under the car, knowing then it wasn't internal.)

Awsome ! Thanks for the reply ! To tell you the truth I had the line all hooked up above the oil filter and the ferule started to leak causing oil to drip on the headers and smoke like a crop duster going down the road !!!! I'm going to hook it up in the front. This way my wife doesn't hear curse like a nut while i try to get the line hooked up in the other place !!

1/8" nylon tubing will be even easier..
