I have gotten so fed up with either renting or going to see a movie that ends up sucking. Seems like about only 1 out of 10 are even worth watching anymore. I think the only movie I have seen recently that was worth sitting thru the whole thing was The Incredibles. Other than that, they are just variations of the same old stuff. Anybody else feel the same way?
Man, I need to drag some of my junk up here so I'll have something to do when I ain't working graemlins/sad.gif

I never seem to go to the theater anymore, two reasons, Im single and have no friends lol and more importantly, the theaters always seeme to be filled with annoying teenagers who's parents drop them off at the mall, give them money for a movie so they can not watch it, and instead talk for two hours.
Anyway, I rented 'flight of the phoenix' with Dennis Quaid, and actually thought it was pretty good. The other one that I thought was really good, but has been out for a while was 'man on fire'. But your right, so many movies now give me the feeling I've seen it before.

I never go to the theaters anymore either.
I'll see it on DVD soon enough.
I'm a TV Sopranos/OZ fan.....well, used to be anyway.

I'm trying to think of any recent movie that I would call good. Going back years, I think maybe "Casino" was the last one I thought was real good..

The Last Samurai- i normally avoid Tom Cruise flicks like the plague, but i accidentally caught it on HBO, and really got into it. it is almost like a Japaneese 19th centruy version of Braveheart- very good plot, good story lines, and really cool sword action that involves people getting cut in half- but without the cool overdone blood showers like in Kill Bill 1- which i also thought was a great movie.

I watch everything on DVD so I don't feel like I got ripped of most of the time.

Recent likes:

Shrek II made me get Shrek one and watch it again.
King Arthur was good but I like these types of movies.
Troy was pretty good, makes you wonder how stupid someone could be to bring that wooden horse into the city.
Man on fire.
Harold and Kumar go to white castle. It was stupid but brought back lots of memories of late night outings for muchies.
Fastimes at Ridgemont High. A classic that's always fun to watch.

On TV any Sopranos episode, wish the new stuff would come out again.

If any of you have never seen "Boondock Saints" You are in for the treat of a lifetime.

Incredible Movie, funny as heck, especially in the deleated scenes, "Rosengurtle Baumgartner" and "Mom calls from Ireland". If you don't laugh untill you puke, I'll buy the movie for you.

You will not be sorry you bought and own this one. When I rented it for the first time (then went and bought it) every one of the rental guys said, "Most excellent movie in the whole place"

Shoot em up , funny, excellent plot, Willem Dafoe in a role he should have gotten an Oscar for, definately a Dude flick you'll watch twice in a row.

Travis I know what you mean, it's hit and miss when you don't follow what the movies did at the box office when they first came out. My wife brought home 3 this past week and we feel like winners with 2 of them being good and worth the time to watch. I really enjoyed "Ray" and "Ladder 49" was worth the rental. Ray was the better of the two.

There was a B movie that came out in the 80's called "Better Off Dead". It's a comedy. I loved it.

We try to hit the theater on Friday late afternoon matinees, $5 instead of $8.50 and no kids in the place either, Kids always go to 7pm shows so avoid them like the plague. Recently rented Ray, awesome show. Flight of Phonix is good as is Million Dollar Baby.
B movie that was filmed totally by digital camera on low budget is Open Water. (brief nudie shot).
About a true story of a couple that got forgotten in the ocean skin diving.

Just watched the Incredible last night with the kids..great movie....I thought Sideways was the funniest movie I have seen in a loooong time. It's nice to see a show were it was shot on a shoe string and the actors have to be really good and so does the writting..I like the big budget special effects movies too..it just seems like all of them are like that these days..Sideways was funny and cheap to make so it was all on the writting and actors. Million Dollar Baby was also one of my favorites.
Since we all like cars try renting Heart Like a Wheel...it's the Shirley Muldowney story..pretty cool how Big daddy stepped up for her and signed on the dotted line to recomend her for a license when no other racers would.

I would also recomend "Sideways" great humor. I got to see it while on a plane to China, actually saw it twice on the same plane, It was a Very long flight. "Out of Time" was also very good with Denzel Washington and Eva Mendes ( worth watching just to see her!)

The Incredibles was fun.

I would say Million Dollar baby is a "must see".

Second Hand Lions is also a "must see" in my book.

Open Range, excellent western.

If your into oldies "12 Angry Men". It's also excellent.

Two thumbs up!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Cellular. It was a good movie -- not great, but good.

ps. I agree -- Troy was pretty good too, but you pretty much know the ending (like Titanic)

I saw The Incredibles at the show when it first came out and simply LOVED it. If you guys think that this movie was good, wait till you see the DVD version showing all of the "deleted scenes" along with the addition mini movie called "Jack Jack Attacks" That one had me laughing almost to tears :D

Couple of Good ones , IMO
Dazed and Confused- even though I didnt grow up in the 70's, still very reminecent of parties and hanging out.
Any Early Steven Segal Flick- when he went all enviromental, it kinda went down hill
Joe Dirt- David Spade is a freakin riot
Rocky Horror Picture Show- very disturbing, but seeing it performed in a theater is well worth sitting through a movie about a transvestite alien.
Trick Or Treat- very 80's "B" horror movie about a heavy metal star that dies in a hotel fire, and his music played backwards brings him back to life; very cheesy, but laughable and the music isnt bad. Plus Ozzy plays a preacher!!!!
I generally watch movies when they come out on DVD,

On video I rented 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind'. I thought it was great. Very different, but it kept your attention.
