Tonawanda is a GM engine assembly plant. Back in the 1970's era they produced most all of the big blocks. They placed a decal on the Valve covers of engines that said "Tonawanda the No.1 Team? or something close to that but there was no special car with that name.
So any big block Chevy likely came from the Tonwanda engine plant allthough they were also built at the Flint Engine plant.

Tonawanda was the sole source for big-block engines; Flint and Tonawanda both built small-blocks (as did McKinnon Industries in Canada, now called the St. Catherines Engine Plant). :)

If you saw a big-block with an "F" or "V" prefix, it was a bad restamp; there was only one set of foundry tooling and one machining and assembly line for big-blocks, and it was at Tonawanda. Flint Engine only built small-blocks (at 5500 per day).
