Time heals, and a little humbling. Just finish your car the way you want it and maybe he will understand if he sees it.

So basicly, you said "your fired". Your buddy should get over it. If he was a buddy, your car would be finished by now. Time heals all wounds. Finish the car, keep in touch with them, and they will probably come around. Good luck.

I completely understand... I am a licensed builder here in Maryland. In the past I've completed jobs and lost many friends because they felt paying me should be the last priority. I was held prisoner to every little detail on their home project. Phone calls on Friday nights, early Sunday morning, it doesn't matter, I was supposed to always be on call.

When I put an end to it, I lost friends because they felt I should be able to help them 24/7 with little or no pay. I feel this way... working for or having friends work for you is not good business. One party will always lean on the other too much.

I now try to do as the doctors and lawyers are taught to do. Don't have friends for clients and everyone else (when they ask for advice) can call you during business hours.

Good luck, and don't worry about it. Can't be much of a friend anyway.

Yes ,I guess he wasn't mutch of a freind! We argued over several issues concerning my car.Mostly over boby work and the paint issue.Bottom line the boy cant paint!it is not a paint and body shop, thus i changed my mind about letting him do it,the work we did on the car at the shop was top notch in my book.It deservs a good paint job.Wife came home with set of tools and told me to go get the air comp.i have been wanting! So all ain't bad with a wife like that. Thanks!! team camaro graemlins/hurray.gif

That is the problem when you hire someone who you have a friendship with. What do you do if there is ever a problem? If it is a pure business relationship you have less issues. Painter, Lawyer, Used cars, etc.

I never charge friends to help them with anything. It's a lot easier that way if something ever goes wrong. No "bailment for hire" in legal terms.

One of the best ways to get rid of someone you don't like having around is to loan them some money. ;) You never have to deal with them again.

My uncle told me a long time ago that it is not too smart to do business with family or friends, that's a good way to end a valuable relationship!
