Im an 18 year old college freshman. My car is in my sig.

I was just curious to see how many younger aged camaro owners visited this site. I'm always curious to see cars that are owned by the younger guys. The cars that are being built up with one minimum wage type paycheck at a time.

Well, I'm not young, LOL, but I just wanted to say that's a sharp car you've got there, and it's great to see a young guy into 1st gens rather than the "Dark side" that seems to be running rampant right now.

Im 17 years old and a junior in high school. and i have a 67 camaro that im in the procces of building into a g-machine / corner-carver. ive replaced the quarters, rockers, floors, inner rear fenders, trunk pan, rear subframes, alot of the front wind shield chanle, and put in a 6 pnt roll cage all on my own and the car looking quite good. Ive built the 383 stroker motor that will go into it as well. Im also eventualy going to do the guldstrand modification if i can ever figure out if its worth it or not. I wouldnt trade all of the fabrication skills i have gained through out this whole project for the world i will never be intimedated by body work again. hopfully the car will be drivable by spring i really want to get out and drive it. By the way i wouldnt be cought dead in an import, I rather spin circles around them at the track.

just about 22 years old now and unfortunately the car took a back seat for awhile as I saved up money for College, but last summer I just went nuts. I guess I had to since I'm going to law school next fall and won't have any money for a few years...

Here's a hint... get a job at UPS doing the "preload" night shift and you can make some nice coin to spend on the Camaros. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif It isn't fun, but pays the bills.

Man you cats are young! You've heard it b-4 but, it's nice to see that you guys are building import eaters. When I was 18-22 I was broke as a joke. How do you all afford to undertake such projects at such a young and impressionable age? I bought my car when I was 26 and just turned 29 last Nov. Damn I'm gettin' old.

Nope, haven't gotten the cover yet. Still waitin'!

My first Camaro wasn't that nice of a car...I didn't know what I was doing on some things...but it wasn't any more expensive than a regular car. Gas was more, though.

The only way I can afford this hobby is due to my friends and family. They're all very kind to lend me their services at no or little cost. My cousin sets up rear ends, friends who build chassis, my grandfather has more tools, parts, and cars then he knows what to do with. Without them, I couldn't do any of this. Gotta thank them once in a while.

It was my grandfather's '67 Butternut Yellow Camaro SS that I only saw once when I was three, that I really started to like this hobby. I remember I was only as tall as the rear bumper or so, and I remember seeing that shiney 'SS' gas cap. He sold it later, never saw it again. He's got other cars I love, but that one really sticks out. So I think I've got some sort of subliminal attraction to Camaros.

hey judd, same story here, if it wasn't for my dads love of any gm product, and his 28x45 garage and his tools i wouldn't be were i am today and his help with my garage which has a living space above for myself and my wife to be in june, i have had anything from a suburu then a s 10 blazer, then a 79 jeep cj 7 me and my dad restored, put a 88 wrangler tub on it,4 " lift, etc, then a 88 fullsize blazer, 33's, flowmaster, everything i had bought me and my dad fixed up nicely drove for 6 months or a year, then sold to buy new project, i then had a 70 chevelle with a bb that i have slowly bought parts for to get it to its current state, and i can't wait to drive it, it should go good, this all leads to getting real good at fixing cars and body work, so i started doing cheap paint jobs, looked ok but they were on beaters, like 800-1000 dollar jobs, and have done more and more to were i can lay paint on with the best of them, and i have gotten better tools along the way, i have gotten busy enough to just work for myslef, even though i might not have 5 days of work i make as much or more in 3 days than i would at a reg paying job, anyway i love muscle cars and talking about them

Judd, my (long) story is as follow:

I've always loved cars with the 'coke-bottle' shape. I regularly went to (import)tuning-car-meetings (yeah, I know!) and once there were also some US cars there and I fell in love with a Mopar, a 'cuda (only because of the shape). I've never really deepend myself into other US muscle, cause (I thought) there were NO other cars out of that era with such a shape.

My brother in law always liked a '67 Camaro, but I had never seen one before, even not on pictures!!!
A couple of months (years) later my brother in law and me were driving to a car-meeting and on the way there my brother in law saw a purple '67 camaro for sale near a house. He told me if I saw the car.....I said no, so we turned back and it was just perfect...a small US car with even a more beautiful shape then the 'cuda. Since that moment I wanted to have a '67 Camaro. I did more research about these cars, and I was in real love!!
I knew I still had to go to school for like a gazillion years, so I kept on dreaming.

2.5 years ago I realized this was the moment for me to save money cause I had to gain some practical knowledge fot school for 5 months in a company, and after that the company asked me to work for them during the vacation (that was another 2 months). Then I had to finish my BSc mech. eng. by doing a thesis for another 6 months, and again working in the vacations...

I saved all my money for 2 years and did nothing with it. Birthdaymoney, Christmasmoney, newyearmoney, and more went all to my bank account. For that period of time I didn't drink, din't smoke, never went out to go to the movies, or just enjoy time at a pub, didn't bought cd's (thanks to Napster and Kazaa http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif), I almost did nothing. My parents gave me some money to have some fun but more then 50% of that money went to my piggybank http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I was searching for more then a year for a Camaro, just in case the day I have the money I could go and buy it when it was a good deal. August 3rd 2002 was the big day....I bought my '67, the best day in my life! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif The money that I didn't need at the time is still in the piggybank, waiting to get into the Camaro.
(Now I'm going to finish my MSc education with a thesis-job this month......... http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif)

I can relate to that story.

Other college students here are in awe when I tell them I don't have cable TV, don't go out to the bars, stuff like that. I just tell them, "Gotta save up for the car", and they think I'm absolutely nuts, saving up for "just some old car".

Some people just don't understand. Our hobby is a in-depth science, and WILL benefit you for the rest of your life.

You guys should take a bow.......nice rides!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

Not sure if the 17-20 yr olds consider 25 young, but at any rate. . . I got my 68 when I was a sophomore in college. Didn't really do much with it then, just tried to keep it running with a few small mods here and there. After all, my daily driver then was an 84 Z28 with a mildly built 350. Most of my attention was focused on keeping that one up and running.

Fast forward 5 years, and the 84 is gone, now most of my efforts can be put into the 68, but Grad school and a full time job limit most of that time to weekends when I'm not busy with the house or weekend trips. Money is slightly easier to come by, but unless you are a die-hard, time always seems to be short.

Those who are full of their own opinions will be deaf to words of wisdom from others. In a discussion between two persons, what often happens is that each is intent on asserting his own views.
As a result, apart from hearing his own voice or views, he does not learn anything else.

There are those of us who remember not so long ago.......and in part, remember what it is to be so young. With age comes the ability to understand wisdom.

All of you are well on your way......

BTW CNC, nice ride.

I bought my Camaro when I was 21. Now I am 24, and the car turned from Olympic Gold to Hugger Orange. Just picked up my new 220 AFR's for the 383. I save a little money here and there for the car, but it is a slow process. I cant wait until I can get in my car and go race my dad. He has a 69 also, but he has a 302 in his. If it wasnt for him I probably wouldnt have had the slightest intrest in cars. When I was growing up he never once complained about how much money or time I spent on my cars. He always said it was better than doing drugs or going out and getting into trouble. To me that will be the coolest thing ever, My Camaro lined up next to dads on some forgotten piece of blacktop, waitin for the flag to drop.I cant wait.

As far as the money and the bar thing go, do what I do. Get a job at a auto-parts store, get your parts for 10% over cost. Then get a part-time job at youre favorite bar and drink while you work. It works out pretty well.

It's so nice to see some young blood enjoying camaros. I'm 31 with two kids and a wife. Always wanted that camaro but big brother got all the tickets so when I turned 16 I ended up with a 67 bug. Soon my wife felt sorry for me and said buy one before we have kids and I did. I just hope my two boys feel the love of american muscle cars. My older one intials are GMC so he is already on the right track.

When I bought one of my 69's , I was only 17 and the car was 10 years old. You do the math. I'm glad I never sold like ALL of my friends did over the years. I only wish I could spend more on mine than I do , but with age comes other priorities. I do thank my wife for letting me keep what I have and accumulate another along the way. I just hope once the priorities get old enough and out on their own I'm not too old to turn a wrench/weld a seam/squirt some paint! It is refreshing to see kids into the muscle car scene.

I bought a 69 and all of a sudden I'm not 45, I'm 17 all over again. It's great to be young again!! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif Mike

I'm 15 Highschool sophmore and I've had my Chevelle 2 yrs. Green. white stripes, white top, '79 350 Corvette eng. ... not a Camaro but it's my baby, even though the dash lites don't work, the winshield wipers only work when they want to, and the oil light stays on no matter how many times you change the oil. I hate electrical stuff.

young, changing the oil probaly will not fix the problem, you will need to change the oil pressure sending unit for the oil light on dash, if napa does not have you can get it from one of the resto company's

If you drive a Camaro you are young at any age; I feel like a teen every time I slip behind the wheel

im 23. got a 67 big block with the original drivetrain and pop.

took all that out (saved it) and have a 468 in there now with a tremec tko 5 speed. now if the thing would just turn over :(

i know a couple young guys with camaros, chevelles, GTOs and falcons... nice to see not everyone is wasting time on ricer crap.

and like someone else said, camaros make you feel young at heart... very cool!

teetoe! im 24 in a week! alls i can say is wow smile.gif
