couple quick questions, what do you use for removing the lower hinge bolts that have the phillips head in them? I have tried an impact driver with now luck.Is there s peacial tool I can buy for this?

Also Removed the door skin and getting ready to install the new skin should i just use the ole hammer and dolly or is there a better way?

Thanks In advance

As far as the hinge bolts, I am assuming that you have the fenders off? If so you can use a #4 Phillips socket (I have a craftsman). Using a long extension, with the socket attached, You can tap on the end of it to help loosen it. Also, if you have the skin off already I would spray some PB blaster or equivalent on the threads and let it soak overnight. I have removed four sets this way and it seams to work every time. On the skin itself check out an eastwood catalog. They have several neat tools to aid in the installation of door skins. I would just be careful lining it up. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I will try the soaking and pickup a #4 socket. Yes the fender was already removed as is the skin, I seen a few of the tools any comments from actual use ? which works the best, which does not mar the front surface?

I use a hard rubber sanding block instead of a dolly when I install door skins. It helps a little for not bending up the front side of the door skin. I do, however, grind the front of the door skin at the edges just to make sure it's straight. Sometimes I will spread a very thin coat of plastic filler on the edges and finish properly as well.

Thanks for the help guys, Will try the block as the price of the skinning tools is quite alot for just 2 doors. If I planned on doing more I would consider it but the tool police has me under surveillence (SP) (meaning the wife LOL).
