Anyone know where I can send my original cap to be restored?
It's not holding pressure anymore.
Thanks Team Camaro!

Here's a place to try:

http://www.johnpirkle.com/

Don't know if he only does a cosmetic resoration or can actually repair it. I have never used his services

I've known John for years - he doesn't do them anymore.
But thanks, he was my first thought also.

Any one else?
Or maybe someone has one I could buy from them?
Problem is, I need a RC-26 for my 66 Corvette.
(pretty rare - 65 66 with A/C)

Paragon now has a very nice reproduction of the RC-26; made from zinc-plated steel as the original was, not stainless like the previous repro and GM replacement.

Their repros don't even look close.
I need a real one.
Thanks

I dont have the answer either......but can recognize the problem.......how do you remove(sever)the rivet and replace the ORIGINAL correct rivet.........so as the ORIGINAL cap can be re ZINC plated.............hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!

If anybody in the restoration world knows, they're not sharing this info

I know there is a guy on ebay that will do this with your cap. Unfortunately, I did not write down his info. A couple of months ago, I remember he was selling a "restored" cap and it looked really good. Someone emailed him a question about how it was done, and he outlined his process, then stated that if you had a good core he could restore it. Don't remember the price exactly, but seemed to be something like $50, but don't go and chip that price in stone.

Sorry I don't have any more info than that.

Darn, I had my RC-15 off of the 69 Pace Car Restored by John and he shipped it back to me in Oct 2004. VERY NICE around 35$ if I remember.

Awesome, new rivet just like orig, plated, new gasketing, simply the best..

I wonder why he stopped working them?

P.S. He worked my Reg and Relay, equally nice.
Highly reccomend his services.
