I am trying to save some money on my car by restoring some original frt parking lamps. They were out of a junk yard in very good shape but someone painted them blue inside. What color are they supposed to be? I am thinking they are white on the inside but not sure. I have them blasted and primed just not sure what color to paint them.

inside was gloss white. backside was silver cad. Plug housing was brass.
To duplicate the silver cad, I spray with chrome paint, and then after it dries, I buff off the "chrome". Then I stand back about 4 feet and "spritz" it with a little argent silver, just to get a little mottled look.
I think it looks pretty darn close to silver cad.

Actually, the backside is gold cad. There are methods with paint to make it look similar, but it wont look like the plating. The front (lens side) is white, plug brass.

Pretty sure the originals were silver cad, and the NOS replacements are gold cad. I have seen "NOS" ones on ebay that were gold, but I had a fairly nice set of originals that still had some of the silver cad on it.

they are white but a popular mod was to paint them with chrome paint.
it actually made them a bit brighter.

Dawg,
I was referring to the back side as being silver cadmium. I looked through one of my boxes of leftovers, and found another unrestored pair. You can see some remaining silver cad on them, as well.

Got an unrestored 69 RS Z in the shop now for resto. They were definately gold cad on the backside. Its a late car (July), so maybe that has something to do with it.
