My 1968 Camaro has a TH350 transmission. The shifter (console) will not allow me to shift into the lowest gear.

I took it to a transmission shop who told me that it has the wrong "transmission lever bracket" on the side of the transmission. They offered to custom build one for me but I'd rather have the right one than a custom one.

Here's my question:
Does anyone know what shift lever bracket is on your properly shifting 68/69 Camaro's TH350 or TH400? I really need to know what kind of lever I need.

I've asked Shiftworks, Ground Up Restoration and an Ebay *auto parts house* and get three different answers with three different brackets.

Ground Up Restorations is saying that it is this one BUT it is the one I already have installed and it is not working:

Shiftworks says it is this bracket:

And the Ebay dealer claims this one to be the right one:

This can't be that hard (can it?) Can anyone help me on this?

When I changed from THM350 to P/G, I didn't have to change anything. And the 3rd choice was/is installed on the P/G, same as the THM350.

The only event I did do was to remove the gate from the OE shifter and notch the plate for a neutral gate to work as a lockout when upshifting to Drive.

So, that would indicate that the select lever itself is the same for PG and TH350?....

When I converted my '67 from a PG to a TH350, I cut and welded the bracket from the PG to the bracket that came with the TH350. They are not the same.
I could get all the gears, but the detents on the shifter didn't match the trans so I had to shift carefully when shifting manually. PRND worked fine but when the adrenaline was up, there was a tendency to shift from low to drive.
I later installed a B&M cable shifter and left that problem behind.
When I bought my car, the lower dash and front of the console were cut up due to a previous owners attempt at installing a stereo. I built my own console to fit the new shifter.
All this happened 20+ years ago and the memories are a little foggy.
If I had a 68/69 with a nice console and a staple type shifter, I would have the same concern as you. Try www.classicindustries.com They have some transmission conversion stuff and may have what you need.

Yes, the shifter bolted to the top of the trans tunnel is the same.
