i am wondering how far off the cast dates on a Muncie tranny and a cars build date can be example a car built in September 69 what would be the earliest tranny used???

Most likely the tranny wouldn't be more than a month or two prior to the car's build date; "typical" would be more like a month or less.

I sold a 1968 Camaro COPO/9737 awhile back that was an O7E build date with the assembly date on the tranny Feb.23! This is about 5 months.. (This is backed up with a P-O-P) So anything is possible from the factory
