: '69 Z/28 Spotter's guide?
Tokala May 19th, 05, 09:11 AM I'm sure that it's been discussed many times before, but is there a list of options and codes to determine the authenticity of a Z/28? I may get a chance to check out a "survivor" Z/28 in the next week or so. The car was purchased new, locally. Rumor is that the owner had the cam, intake and carb changed by the dealer to make it more of a driver. Original cam, intake and carb is supposed to be with the car. Car is supposedly in very good shape and has been garaged kept. The original owner died and his widow is thinking about selling the car. Any idea of a fair & reasonable offer if it checks out?
Mark C May 19th, 05, 09:28 AM How many miles? What kind of condition is it in. A survivor means never been repainted, original everything, except maybe tires, belts and hoses depending on mileage.
A survivor Z28 in nice shape, with low miles is in the 50K range and can go up from there depending on options, they are not cheap.
moneypit May 19th, 05, 09:54 AM Tokala,...I think many of us would appreciate if you could capture as many pictures as possible while looking at vehicle. I will then imagine myself "stumbling" upon the "find".
I am also sure someone will chime in with maybe a few quick areas to verify first and foremost.
Again,...please post pic's!
ChevyThunder May 19th, 05, 09:59 AM I have a survivor Z...all original Van Nuys , Endura bumper, blue light AM/FM stereo , style trim , console with guages and deluxe belts . It has standard black interior and is daytona yellow. It is a survivor on the low end of the scale , though it is all origianl (car was inspected by Jerry MacNeish last month) the car needs complete restoration. I am not selling the car but I have had 20ish offers...I think Mark is right on with his estimate of value
This is how I found it in the tow yard

Tokala May 19th, 05, 10:36 AM It's my understanding that it is all original. Not sure about belts, hoses and tires. Of course, I'll take as many photos as I can. Hopefully, I can make arrangements to go look it over this weekend.
smith69z May 19th, 05, 10:38 AM And ChevyThunder, I have been using your great pictures to guide me getting mine back together. I apprecate having them as reference.
I bought mine completly disassembled!
Thanks!!
sicsD8 May 19th, 05, 10:43 AM The cam/intake/carb story sounds a bit fishy.
ChevyThunder May 19th, 05, 12:15 PM smith69z ..that is great, I am glad those pics are of use..if you need any more for a specific area let me know and I will take them for you. The car is still together.
as far as the cam/intake/carb story...it may be fishy but to me it is not at all...I know of a 375 mile 69 COPO car that a friend tried to buy..the owner had switched out some components on the engine...probably excited when he first got the car and wanted to tinker with it..his widow has all of the original stuff in boxes...I have since seen the car advertised in DuPont Registry for 350K .....Peopele switched out stuff on these cars all the time and there is always someone around that thinks they know what's a better set up..to me it is even more believable because it sounds like a one owner car...if it had changed hands a few times then the smell of fish would be stronger:) However , it's just my opionion because bottom line is you may be right...I would also ask for any old photos...this guy sounds like a car guy and I bet the widow has a ton of photos of this car...I even took photos of my old cars when I switched something...she probably has the same

I kind of put this in the "headers in the trunk" theory. I'm kind of hoping that this works out. I've always wanted a '69 Z/28. I have no idea if it has the RS package?
moneypit May 28th, 05, 06:46 AM What happened Tokala??? Any pics?
