: Need Help with Wheel Decision, please!!!!
ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 11:25 AM I need help on a wheel decision. Seriously.
I have the manufacturer decided: FIKSE
I need help deciding between FM/5's (Mule Wheels) and FM/10's( a little more snowflake ish)You can view them at FIKSEUSA.com under wheels. I know its a little more effort to look, But I am stuck.
On a 69 Convertible Protour Car.

ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 12:02 PM Thanks for the Help DJD, you da man. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
69ProTouring Apr 22nd, 04, 12:07 PM Hey, don't forget about the Fikse Profil 5S. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Oh wait, we're supposed to be helping the decision process, not hindering right? :D
69ProTouring Apr 22nd, 04, 12:12 PM Ok, I had to get creative to get these image file hyperlinked, Fikse won't let you right click the image to get the properties. But anyways, here they are...

ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 01:13 PM The 5S is a good looking wheel, but I eliminated it because it looked a lot like Z06 wheels. Not that they don't look great on Jeff Trush's car mind you...
Oh and, Scott, your car is wicked and sits just right graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Quick69 Apr 22nd, 04, 01:32 PM this should answer your question

ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 01:40 PM One of the most gorgeous 69 Camaros in Automotive history, in my opinion. I have considered making a Convertible version of that Car. (Minus the cost of the swimming pool, oops, I mean the Kinsler Fuel Injection) 'Course, all you dudes on the Left Coast see cars this cool regularly. Over here, it's rare. CFunk, where are you my man?

Trancebot Apr 22nd, 04, 01:48 PM I dont get why you guys think the mule is so great looking, i think its a nice ride but its not hard to duplicate in the looks department anyway. Its just a silver 69 with some good rims and tires that sit right.
Oh and the FM 10's are way too complicated for a simple car. Too crazy of a wheel brings attention to the wheel instead of the car and makes it look un-balanced.
ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 01:51 PM That car is art and sex and speed all at once. By the way, which set of wheels do you like, my original reason for the post, Help Dude!!
My bad, I see that you don't prefer the 10's and thanks for the opinion. :D
Quick69 Apr 22nd, 04, 01:58 PM That car just has "it"

ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 02:01 PM Ever seen the commercial where the Cop writes tickets to the guy when he's parked? Thats what the Mule has, as Quick put it "IT"
Well said.

The thing is when you know a bit about a car you tend to look past the visuals and see the total package every time you look at a picture of it.
69ProTouring Apr 22nd, 04, 02:57 PM Wow, Trancebot, it's MORE than just looks. It's the baddest 69 ever built in my opinion. There's SO much more to it than just the silver paint the right stance.
Build pics of the Mule - 6 pages worth (http://www.pro-touring.com/water/)

CFunK Apr 22nd, 04, 03:23 PM Jim,
I am here. I just don't have the "passion" like you guys for the mule. A 1st Gen is a 67-68, but that is a whole 'nother topic. smile.gif
After seeing the covert I would settle on a color BEFORE making the wheel choice. Are you building the car around the wheels?
ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 03:43 PM Yes, Funk, Cortez silver(ish) with a very light pearl clear. Saw it on a custom car and have decided it was the color. The Mule is "Silvabee Silver" if I recall correctly, a little darker.
Still want your opinion on the wheels. Ive got a place to stash the other two Z's and I'm gonna start tearin the Vert down this weekend. I finished the subframe and installed the brakes, The third member will be here Wednesday of next week, So I can build the rear assembly. I'm gonna install the engine and trans on the subframe and, assuming I don't have any fitment problems with the Rack and Pinion, I'll go ahead and start the mini tub, subframe connector and fire wall smoothing install. DSE is gettin the tanks in next week, and i hope to have one in next Friday. Got my 335's and my 245's(18)'s, so, with the brakes on I have to make a wheel choice so I can make all of the fitments for the drivetrain. Then I can send it to the body shop. It will give my money tree just barely enough time to produce more fruit so I can move on to the next phase.

CFunK Apr 22nd, 04, 04:02 PM Ok, Ok, If I had to choose it would be the Mach V. Not as complicated as the FM/10 but but not as "simple" as the others. 5 spokes have been done to death.
You spinning wrenches on Saturday? I am willing to lend a hand tearing apart the 'vert.
ummgawa Apr 22nd, 04, 04:08 PM I had to replace the proportioning valve on the 69 and we (son and I bled the brakes today). Moving the 74 will be a little more complicated, but, if I get it moved and make the big dump run to get rid of all of the boxes the stuff came in, I should be ready. Thanks for the offer Funk, I'll know by Friday if its so. I'll let you know. FM/5's? The Mach V's complicate things a bit, and, the only thing I see Fikse's on around here are the rare Porshe.
ummgawa Apr 23rd, 04, 07:25 AM Still not enough info to make a decision yet,
69ProTouring Apr 23rd, 04, 10:18 AM I like Funk's idea. Mach V. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
ummgawa Apr 23rd, 04, 10:24 AM Kinda liking that Idea myself, need to think on it.
boodlefoof Apr 23rd, 04, 11:11 AM I really like the Mach V myself.
69ProTouring Apr 23rd, 04, 11:37 AM Are you thinking 17's or 18's? Or did you say that already and I missed it?
http://www.fikse.com/images/machv.jpg
ummgawa Apr 23rd, 04, 04:31 PM 18 's and I'm liking the Mach V also. Thanks for the input!!
ummgawa Apr 23rd, 04, 05:33 PM And the choice is- Mach V's. Not even one of my original two choices. Thanks Funk, Scott, Quick, and DJD. I appreciate it.
Canadian_Hot_Rodder Apr 23rd, 04, 10:36 PM Wait, wait, wait!! Check out the Profil 5S. I love the look of those 18's! http://fikse.com/profil5s.html Take a look at those before you make your purchase!
ummgawa Apr 25th, 04, 10:52 AM It is Done!!! The Mach V's will be here in approximatly 3-4 weeks.Ordered them Saturday from Thunder Racing. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
