Can factory CI solenoids be rebuilt? I think mine is getting bad or is bad now. It seems I have to push and pull on the rod to get it to go in and out. Electrically the rod will go out but not pull back in. Does a solenoid like that require lubrication?
Thanks,
Gary

To add...I took the solenoid apart, carfully, and found the plunger was tight on the inside of the windings plastic housing. Cleaned it good, some light sanding on the plunger and put back together.
On an initial no power test, plunger moved with no binding.
With power, the plunger would go forward and stick. The plunger would spring back if power was removed.
I then went to the relay, tapped it with a small ballpeen hammer and the plunger released. With the same results, after about 10 tries, i had to tap the relay quite a bit to get the solenoid to close.
Could this possibly mean my relay is bad? Any thought on what otherwise would make the solenoid stick open? There is no binding in the door flapper and frame.
Thanks,
Gary
