Well after five years of me telling her I had to get the Camaro done first, I finally bit the bullet and proposed last Tuesday. About a month ago I went and bought a ring and kept it in the glove box of the Camaro. Last Tuesday was her birthday and I told her I would take her out for supper. She was suprised that I drove the car, but did not think anything of it. On the way to supper I asked her if she wanted her present. She said OK. So I put on "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain (one of her favorite songs) and told her that her present was in the glove box. She opened it and just sat there. she didnt say anything. The first thing that popped into my mind was Ron White "Diamonds, That will shut her up!" She looked up and said "wow". So being the smooth guy I am said "So ya wanna get hitched?" She said yes. I asked her later why she didnt say anything right away, she said she was in shock. I totally suprised her.

So instead of getting the 383 done this year, I will be planning a wedding instead. I tried to talk her into just going to Vegas, but she always wanted a real wedding since she was little. I guess I cant argue with that. She said we can go to Vegas for our honeymoon. I cant wait.

Wish me luck on this new journey in my life. Thanks for listening guys. I just had to share.

Hey anyone know where Vince Neil lives in Vegas?

Great story and good to see you captured a good one. I got married a few years ago to one of the best girls in the world and she's all cool with me and Camaros. FYI, we were married in Vegas in 2002 and it was a fun time. My wife was married once before and she already had the white wedding so Vegas was cool with her. Glad to see you are giving her dreams a go here too, might pay off in spades when you want something spanky for the Camaro. Cheers to you both and always treat her like gold!

PS,

If you honeymoon in Vegas, be sure to check into the Luxor and go see the Blue Man Group. The hotel is way cool (Pyramid) and the show is right in the hotel.

My wife and I got married 16 years ago by a German justice of the peace at the courthouse in Oberursel, Germany. We wereboth in the military, and it was just her and I, our two witnesses and the judge. It was a very cool ceremony. We did the family wedding 6 months later once we were back in the states. I hope you guys are as happy as we are. Up until last year, we worked together side by side, and then spent all of our time together at home with our kids. We now have seperate jobs, but through the world of text messaging, we are able to send each other little messages throughout the day. We just have such a good time together.

I wish you all of the luck in the world. Neither of us have ever considered marriage difficult, or something that has to be managed. Maybe we are odd in this sense, but I simply cannot imagine not being married to this great person.

Have fun.

If you follow my lead...
1. Buy car (you are ahead of me, it seems yours is street worthy :) )
2. Buy ring - costs as much as a 500HP anything
3. Pay for wedding (and grad school)
4. Save for house
5. Sneak in some new tools now and then.
6. Buy house.
7. Fix house (maybe dig up old pool in back)
8. Kids. More than 1. Daycare.
9. Finally get to garage (I'm at this step)
10. Start to get dirty (Fall or spring :clonk: )

Congratulations. It's really a good thing. Despite my list, I wouldn't change a thing. Besides, sounds liek she is already broken in with the car thing. :beers: :beers: :beers: :beers:

Go to Vegas during the SEMA show or some other car event. That will set the tone well.

Five years before you asked? And she still said Yes? Good for you! As CFunk said, better hurry up and tie the knot. Sounds like this one's a keepr.

Congratulations to the both of you!!

Back in '82, my girlfriend and I were gonna take our vacation together, and go away for a week, and her mom got wind of it. She wouldn't let her daughter go away for a week with someone she wasn't married to. She called me at work and asked if I wanted to get married.....I was like....sure, why not? That was 23 years ago last week. My wife is my best friend, and we both wish you guys the best of luck!

Only regret I have is selling my '67 and '68 camaro's in order to pay for rings, honeymoon, vino.....etc.

She did let me get my '69 a few years ago. (Well, she let me keep it when I brought it home)

Congrats you two!!

Congrats to you!! I have been married for going on 13 years now. I never understood what people meant when they said "a marriage takes work" --That is, until we had kids! Now I get it!! Have fun and don't sweat the petty stuff!!

Look for Vince out at "The Lakes". It's an area out west on Sahara. You'll find Cher and Celien Dion as well as a few others out there as well. You'll know the area as you come to it. There is a man made lake with blue water.

Congrats on the surprise. .Pulled the same kind of thing on the gf at Christmas with a ring inside a cd case.

Thanks Everyone,
She and I are very happy. She is cool with the car thing, i bought her a 66 Mustang last summer. Mainly because she thought they were cool (what is it with women and mustangs?). The other day she was washing it and I asked her to move it. She accidentally spun the tires on it and almost crapped her pants. It was funny. I wish I had a camera. She calls my camaro "the other woman". What the hell at least she has a sense of humor.

Once again, thanks guys!
