On a 68 camaro wiring from the coil to starter what wires go where?
i have 3 wires that are at the coil one is yellow and one is black and one is black with a white string like cover on it.

here the deal I put the new starter in the car and turn the key nothing happens so i check all grounds and nothing happens I short the starter and it works I can turn the switch and the lights and wipers work I had the yellow wire going to the + on the coil and the 2 black on the - side i had a purple wire on the inside of the starter solenoid I am not sure what the corect wiring is for this i am a newbie when it comes to the wiring.

Yellow should go to the positive coil terminal from the starter solenoid. Black goes to the ground, or negative terminal. The white split wire should go to the distributor and tach.

There should be a purple wire going to the starter from the ignition switch ST terminal. Yellow wire from starter to + term of the coil. Black wire from - term of coil to the Dist. Then the black/white wire should go from the coil + term to a resistor coil on the firewall that is fed from the ignition switch RN terminal. Check that you didnt fry the ign fuse after you've confirmed the wire placements.
