I just got a preformance chip for my 97 rs camaro v6 3.8L I dont' know where this one sensor is it is called like lat or something if anyone knows anything about this please let me know in a reply or email me at killak339@yahoo.com thankyou

IAT is the Intake Air Temperature sensor. On the 3rd gen motors, the IAT didn't do much. Not sure about 4th gen and later.

I encourage you to check out http://www.thirdgen.org if you are wanting to tweak the ECM. Some of the stuff there is pretty hard core. Those guys have reverse-engineered several of the factory programs and burn their own proms using software available on the site. But there again, I'm not sure how hackable a 90 model ECM is.

In general, the after market chips cost a hellova lot for very little performance improvement. That's why there are so many folks tweaking their own proms. The factory programs are purposely programmed to work well with a specific engine combination. But to really maximize performance, you'll want to tweak the program to match your specific engine. But then again, you're talking about a 6 cylinder motor so you may not want to invest too much brain power in it.

IAT is the intake air temp sensor. It's either located in the air inlet tube leading to the throttle body, or it's in the front of the throttle body.

Question: What does knowing what the IAT does and it's location, have to do with the chip you bought?

Im not sure I just remember reading the instructions about locating the IAT sensor. this chip is one I got off of ebay saying to increase 20 hp but Im only expecting like 5-10 if that I just wanted to see how it worked its called like velocity.

You got the same thing that I was asking a question on tell me if you feel any difference in it. I was thinking of getting it also but still unsure :/
