I just bought a set of AFR 210cc heads, and I have to store them for a while. They are complete with valvetrain parts and brand new. I'm thinking of spraying them with WD-40, and coating them with motor oil, and then sealing them in plastic bags. They will sit inside the house, not in the garage, basement, or outside. Any recommendations?

I had a set of aluminum ProToplines sit on my garage shelf for over a year with no effect. I think you're treatment(s) will save them for the next generation!

LOL, Rick

69Nova, I think you are being a little over cautious but, that shouldn't hurt anything. I have a set of aluminum heads in the garage that are in plastic bags, they have been sitting (complete minus springs) for close to two years. I take a look at them ever once in a while. As long as you keep them clean and dry you shouldn't have any problems. A little oil on them (WD-40) and keep them bagged. The problem with lubing them up is, all the dust and dirt will stick if they are ever exposed. If you keep them dry you can just blow them off with air when you are ready to use them. As long and the valve guides are lubed you shouldn't have an issue.

As much as those AFR heads cost and the time it took to get them (16 weeks) I would put them under my bed,, between the .357 and the doberman.. And they were worth every bit of the price and wait, WOW!

Why not seal them in a plastic bag with a bag of that silica stuff that absorbs moisture ?
