Can someone offer help with my 60 foot times. I currently am in the 1.66 area.
I run a fixed ladder bar style rear susp in a tubbed camaro with 4.11 gears.
Tires are Hoosier Q-Time Pro 31x18.50-15. I have a locked Diff. The car has an aluminum interior and a torquey BB the converter stalls approx 2800 and a th400 trans no brake. I have 8 full passes on the car. I have chassis engineering coilovers and 110# springs. I have tried leaving at 1500-2000 rpm. I currently run 8 psi in the tires and I worked my way there from 10psi.
The frt susp is a latemodel gm subframe with travel limiter bolts set in the upper controll arms. any ideas are welcome

Thanks

What does the car run?
is the 60ft off?

More stall -- Based on your tire size I doubt its spinning and a 4.11 gear with that tall a tire is a little on the shallow side . . .

What cam are you running?

More stall, say 3500-3800 rpm, depending upon camshaft installed.
Smaller diameter tire, maybe less width, moving alot of unsprung weight.
More gear, see above.

Adjust ladder bars for more down pinion angle, to say 4*.

The cam: COMP Cams XE294H-10 .593 lift
The Run ET11.859 113.36mph

I just installed the 4.11 gear to replace a 4.56. I wanted to keep the rpm at the line down to approx 5700.

Did I shoot myself in the foot??

Definately more stall. A 10" converter that stalls to 3800-4000 would be best IMO.

I wouldn't worry about the gear too much at this point -- your stall is what is holding you back.

I will pay close attention to where the converter stalls to and flashes to next time I have it out. This thing is so new and I am still a but nervous...Thanks for the info.

Oh! another question Would I do better leaving at Idle to get a higher flash or getting on top of the converter at the light??

I live in Brunswick. 42 is much more convenient. Its 1/2 hr drive vs an hour to norwalk. I can make as many test and tune passes as I need, to the folks at 42 stop everything to let the the R&D/test&tune people get the runs they need on tuesdays. I like that! Norwalk is always packed when I get there and I get 1 or 2 passes in the past. So for now I call dragway 42 home.

TTT

How do the footbrake racers launch? From Idle or get up on the converter. My car has a motorplate and on video it does not noticeably load the suspension etc.

I cant help but feel something is holding me back! There is a bottle neck somewhere.

Thanks again

I leave at 2000-2500 maybe 2600 RPM depending on track conditions. My converter footbrakes to 3200 and flashes to 4000+

The idea when bracket racing is to load it up enough so that you don't shock the driveline/suspension/tires when launching. I vary RPM a little to "tweek" my reaction times -- a higher launch RPM typically means a faster reaction time.

Now if you are test and tune kinda guy and are just going after fastest ET, try launching off idle or just over to get the hardest hit you can. Now you will have to make it stick to get any kind of decent ET, but flashing the converter usually nets that fastest ETs.

i load the converter, i disagree with the last part, watching stock eliminator most everyone of them load the converter, and alot of them put the car on a 2 step so they can hold the car with the footbrake and leave at WOT letting off the 2 step button and footbrake at the same time. making for the quickest 60fts off all the scenarios of Footbraking.

Know of a few cars in particular which all go quicker/60ft quicker with more starting line RPMS.

I have only run the car about a dozed or so full passes. I would not say I am a test and tune kinda guy. I am trying to learn what the combo is capable of, and getting the car dialed in. I do appreciate the advice. Thanks

Well from last night the converter will stall to at least 3000. It flashes to approx 4500when I put the pedal down on the launch. Is it possible that lack of track prep is causing my 60' times? When I stage this way my 60" times go from 1.6ish to 1.7-1.8ish.

1.6 'ish is pretty good, what you need to do is to get the car to be 1.6 'ish every time. At your power level traction becomes an issue and good ET's are as much the result of a good chassis as they are from a powerful engine combo. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but you need to get your car to hook hard -- even with marginal track prep.

Thanks Eric. I guess I am looking for the magic bullet and I should know better. I really want a 10 second slip.
