I received this email the other day and want to know if anyone has seen this and if this is really true. What do you think?

We can buy gasoline that's not from the middle east. Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling of every time I fill-up the gas tank, I am sending my money to people who want to kill me, my family and my friends. I thought it might be interesting to know which oil companies are the best to buy from and which major companies import middle eastern oil.

DON'T BUY GAS FROM THESE GAS STATIONS WHICH IMPORT FROM THE MID EAST:

Shell............205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco...144,332,000
Mobil/Exxon......130,082,000
Amoco............62,231,000

DO BUY GAS FROM THESE GAS STATIONS:

Citgo............0 barrels
Conoco...........0
BP/Phillips......0
Sinclair.........0
Sunoco...........0

Apparently, this information is available from the Department of Energy. Each company is required to report where they get their oil and how much they obtain.

Interesting reading.

The only stations we have around here are Chevron, Texaco, Exxon...maybe a BP or two, but that's about it mostly.

Thanks DjD. I've never seen this snopes site. I don't get on the net that often, when I do, I now spend most of my time here, checking things out.

Thanks

Allot is dependant on where the nearist or cheapist refinery is. Not sure of the franchise contracts but say a guy like an old relative owns all of a ceratin brand station in Portalnd and surrounding. He has a couple of tankers. He has Buck fill them up and deliver. Everyone is happy with his prices.
Tesoro has one refinery and it might be the only one for all of Hawaii and it's Australian owned. There sure are still name brand stations all over the place.

Too bad the only gas we have down here is ALL from ExxonMobil, Texaco or Shell. I would support the "ban" on their particular brands if it were possible. I guess I could always drive up to the Mexican border and fill 'er up with the watered down PEMEX crap. I'll pass.

The info in that e-mail like most the BS that gets passed around the internet is mis-represented.
