Anyone know where the fuel gauge wire is to go to the gas tank?

There should be a brown wire in the rear harness that has a plug type end on it that pushes onto a threaded pin on the fuel sending unit on top of the tank. Are there any wires back there now? A little more info. would be helpfull.

Assuming 1st gen car. clicks right about a brown wire to the post on the sending unit. Comes out of the rear light harness, then through the trunk floor (with a grommet). Should also be a connector there to join the rear harness and the wire to the sending unit.

And theres also a ground coming off the sending unit that goes to the body.

should be in the center rear of the trunk (it's under the filler tube on my 68) the license plate light connects to the same connector.

Not trying to be picky, but this wire is tan, not brown. Since there are other wires back there that are brown, (tail lights) I thought this should be cleared up.
