Sorry, me again.....

Installing a new hyd roller cam tomorrow, re-using factory roller lifters.....

Do I need assembly lube on the cam, or can I install it dry, and pour motor oil through the lifter bores before installing the lifters, rotate it a bit, and pour more oil through?

As roller cams don't need the break-in period that flat tappets do, is motor oil an acceptable lube for initial fire up?

PS It's a steel cam core.

Muchas Garcias! (as in Jerry)

Si , por nada!,, i didn't use anything special,, did use some comp liquid lube on it while had manifold off and adjusted valves then pored new oil in and started up ... Manufactors stated dont leave standing long time with out lube and thats understandable...

Just lots of oil will be fine. Clean the old lifters in some solvent to get all the dirty old oil out of the roller wheels. Make sure the rollers are well lubed, that is the main thing to worry about on a roller lifter of any type. I soak them in oil for a few hours and then roll the rollers while they are soaking.
Personally, unless it is a very low mileage engine, I would go with new lifters, the stock ones really are not that expensive anymore.
