I am a newbie and learning a lot from this forum. I bought a 69 Camaro with a stock 350 Small Block in it about six months ago. I am installing a new carb. and want to check timing and idle. I have read all the posts on timing and vacuum advance. My question is What is the basic initial timing setting and idle rpm for a stock 350 my book says 4 BTDC and I also want to change from ported vacuum advance to manifold how much advance should I have at idle from vacuum advance. Will I have to by and adjustable vacuum advance can. What should the total timing be Mech.+ Initial.
