Hey, I took my car on its maiden voyage yeterday. What a Fathers Day treat. My problem is the front tires rub when I run over a mouse turd. They hit the inner fenders. I have 17" all around with Hotchkis 2" drop springs. I had these springs when I had my 15" wheels no problems. Any suggestions? I need to get the car up at least a good inch. Thanks guys.

It sure was fun though to drive.

What are your tire specs? Also, what is the rim width and backspacing?

Are you sure you are hitting on the inner feneder wells? With those spec I would assume you would be close to the lip on the outer wheel well.

It hits both the inner fender bolt and inner fender

A band aid approach is to add an extra leaf to your springs, if they are monoleafs. Otherwise new springs would be needed. It sounds like yours must be worn out.

hmmm, I'd expect 4" bs on an 7 inch rim to fit good in the front. If you take the top 2 inner fender bolts out does it still hit? you could maybe grind the heads down a schosh...

How much neg camber did they put in when you had it aligned?

If you're not averse to drilling holes in your car, the guldstrand mod will give you better handling and a ton more tire clearance.

Do you have drop spindles?

3* caster I hope. You should be able to get more though. You may want to try neg .250* camber.

No drop spindles. I am going to get it in the alignment shop next week. Thanks for the replies .

Check your alignment and sub frame bushings... I had problems with 245/45/17's on 17x8with 4.75 back spacing and went with 235/45/17's and a good alignment. Then after replacing the subframe bushings I think the 245's would fit... I know the '69 is susposed to have a bit deeper wheel well than the '68 but not that much... Also the height of the back end can have a play on the front end...
