That's a touching story. Maybe it's the season, or I'm just getting older, but after reading most of that thread, I got a little wet in the eyes.
I sent a donation, and hope we at TC can do the same thing for this young man who lost his father in Iraq with the Camaro. I haven't felt the true meaning of Christmas in quite a while, and I have to tell you, I like it! Having my own situation right now, this is just what I needed to make this Christmas one of the best ever. Thanks for sharing that Jerry. Merry Christmas.

hey before we go sending money... just to be on the safe side should someone check it out to see if it is legit... I am all for helping out thoes that are in need, it's just that there are alot of scams out this time of year.

69, I am with your thinking in this day and age that one should be careful. However this is a legit cause that has gotten media attention. Check out supv26's post and you'll see what I mean. I went a little further and contributed to the other cause sherr20 linked to, because I believe it is real also. Read a little bit and decide. Your skeptisism is warranted, but IMO both are real. I just went the extra step to ante up to sherr20's link, but it's the Camaro one I'm most excited about. Know what I mean?

It is legit, from my motorcycle days which ended last year after my big accident Barnacle Bill is well known in the community. He did this same type of thing making a suit of leathers for a lucky person that gets drawn out of a hat of donaters to help pay for air fence at some of the road races. He is a stand-up guy. Also Dave, Dr Pepper, is someone I dont know personally but have known through others for the better part of 2 years. These are all WERA road racing association racers and enthusiasts that started it.

You can donate and feel secure, and good about yourself.....And dont know if you can use any of the things they will be drawing names for, but if you win the set of racing tires or leathers you could always sell them on Ebay.
