: Thinking of selling
shoddy_F-body Apr 24th, 04, 02:52 PM Heres my dilema. I have my 68 convertible project, i have my 68 coupe and a 70 chevelle project. I find myself losing interest and being overwhelmed by three cars.Seems like all i do( and have done for years) is work on and dump money into cars, but never get any enjoyment out of cruising.I used to love working on them, but now its more frustrating because i dont have my kicka$$ shop that i had at my previous house.Just an attatched small two car.So i have two cars in the garage, along with the lawn mower and other junk, and one car outside,no room to work. One idea is to sell all three and get one nice car thats finished. That will take up one space in the garage.Another idea (and more realistic) is to sell the coupe(that i never drive) and put the money into the convertible.Im thinking of selling it without the motor, since its fresh and healthy, and drop it in the convertible. That will be one less hill to climb with that car. Thanks for letting be vent.Any thoughts?
MickyT Apr 24th, 04, 03:59 PM I can understand being overwhelmed with 3 projects. Im like that sometimes with only one! If you decide to sell the '68 coupe I would sell it as a running car. Find an engine and pop it in. You can find a 350 pretty cheap and I think you will increase marketability and price greatly. I would hold onto that convertible. Chances of locating another one that you would be happy with at a decent price are slim. Good luck on your decision.

paulm Apr 24th, 04, 04:03 PM I'm with you!!! I have my 69 ragtop done (Thank goodness), but the 67 ragtop and 35 chevy are in pieces! I go through the same thing wondering why I spend so much time and money on these cars. I try to think about what it would be like if I sold one or two of them but you know what I'd probably buy another project car graemlins/sad.gif if I got rid of them. They're not hurting anything sitting there and I really do like them and want to finish them, so when I have the time and money I will!
Codi Apr 26th, 04, 07:06 AM Thinking outside of the box, you need another kicka$$ shop. Keep the Camaros, sell the Chevelle, build a bigger "toy box" and then things won't look so cluttered and overwhelming. Convince the other half she will gain the added room of a "clean" garage for her and the kids (if applicable).
ummgawa Apr 26th, 04, 07:17 AM I have the same problem. I have a 69 Z finished, and a 74 Z-28 I bought when my son was 2 years old and he is now graduating from High school!! I cannot make myself get rid of that car. I will finish it. I also have started a 69 convertible projest SO, I am moving the two to a friends garage (he has moved out of town and kept his house) so I have the space. I will first throw away 90 % of the crap in there so it isn't cluttered. Then Begin.
shoddy_F-body Apr 26th, 04, 07:30 AM Can't sell the Chevelle! To much sentimental value.First car, drove it through high school, took my then girlfriend, now wife to the prom in it.She would kill me.Plus its about %80 fininshed and i would lose my butt selling it. Dont need another shop. After working 40 plus hrs in a collision shop,i dont want to spend my weekends doing major working on cars. I have had my eyes open for a nice ragtop firebird. I may sell the two camaros and buy a nice finished 'bird. For now i am putting the 68 coupe in storage,to get it out of my sight for a while,if i dont miss it i will sell it.
Jeff H Apr 26th, 04, 08:09 AM Sell the coupe to get the conv on the road. Then when you have the itch to do some work, you can work on the Chevelle. My plan was to have my 68 LT1 car ready for April. Obviously that isn't going to happen. So now I need to get it back up and running as soon as possible or the summer will be gone before I can enjoy it.
KevinW Apr 26th, 04, 08:54 AM Jeff, that is too bad :( I was hoping you would be able to finally come to the outlets with us. Let me know when you are ready to bring it down. :D
I should talk, it is taking me way too long to replace my raditor. graemlins/clonk.gif Things just keep interrupting, i.e. rad support bracket under battery is GONE ( I'm makin a temp one out of Teco brackets smile.gif ), Doing a little body work, fixing the grill, replacing the bumpers... Little things like that. :D
BartonekDragRacing Apr 27th, 04, 04:17 AM I would sell the Camaros since the Chevelle has that much sentimental value. Do the max money thing and put it in Ebay if its a clean car. Finish up the Chevelle with whatever money you make on the Camaro's, and then take it out for a spin and enjoy! I've also spent alot of $ on cars..just sold my blown 68 in pieces and bought another car but was kinda getting tired of spending money on race parts, etc etc.. gets old after a while.
