View Full Version : How can I find a picture that shows how to attch a front spoiler on a 68 reamo1 Jun 29th, 05, 05:22 PM Please! shanekennedy Jun 30th, 05, 07:08 AM donno where any pics are. i just screwed mine up & omitted the brace bars. DVINNY Jun 30th, 05, 08:58 AM Same here. I put mine on myself. I bought the Plastic style the has the "concours" look. I thought $70+ for a piece of plastic was harsh, but I used the center bolt from the radiator brace, then drilled one more hole on each side to bolt it right on. No brace bars for me either. Vintage 68 Jun 30th, 05, 09:23 AM 'Ream'; Check your email. sicsD8 Jun 30th, 05, 11:47 AM IMO-you'd be better off leaving the braces off. If you would happen to hit something in the road or a parking curb, you'd only be out a new plasitc spoiler whereas the braces can do damage to the lower fenders and valance. It's a pretty solid piece without the braces. reamo1 Jun 30th, 05, 01:28 PM Thanks Guys! 19HoosierDaddies67 Jul 2nd, 05, 01:49 AM I used the braces from the edges of the spoiler to the fender extensions on my 67. I bought it a few months back and it is already cracking near the outside, it might be in a bind the way I installed it. I am going to try removing the end braces. KevinW Jul 2nd, 05, 07:09 AM I recommend installing the braces. The front spoiler "droops" without them and does not maintain the correct angle. Also under wind pressure, an unbraced spoiler pulls at the sheet metal screws on the valance. Remember, the factory had a good reason to spend money on metal braces :D Just don't run into any curbs! Gary Dorion Jul 2nd, 05, 09:44 PM I haven't had a problem at all by not using the braces ( 7 yrs.) The spoiler has kept it's shape, and lookls good. I'd rather replace a spoiler than a valance panel. timbo68 Jul 3rd, 05, 10:30 PM If anyone does have pics it would help.. I am assembling my '68 vert and have the front spoiler kit(with braces) to install... Thanks in advance.!! Rocketrod Jul 4th, 05, 07:04 AM Buy an assembly manual. They are an invaluable resource during a resto project. timbo68 Jul 4th, 05, 09:48 AM Thanks a bunch Rod, It is a valuable resource.. been using it during the process already, but thanks for that handy tip.... :waving: |
