zdld17 Jul 3rd, 05, 02:35 PM I just sent the guy a question if he would restamp one for my early 69 showing X codes that were never added. Lets see what he has to say.
zdld17 Jul 6th, 05, 05:45 PM Contacted man selling those "New" cowl trim tags on Ebay,, I asked if I could have one made for my 12A car with X codes included,,,Said that they don't do that stuff as GM didnt intend X codes to be there. He stated in his ad that these tags could be used to "fool friends" .. I see the $2.69 tag is now at $112.50.
BlackoutSteve Jul 6th, 05, 11:54 PM They cost around $300 to have made.
I don't have "issues" with repro tags, I just wish those who made them would insist on adding a small feature like a dimple or something so that they were obvious repros. They are very aware that their tags are used for evil yet there seems to be no moral consensus from those who produce them.
My trim tag is a little damaged and maybe I'll replace it one day. I like that option but I don't want to rip anyone off with it if I decide to change the paint code for fun.
burntbunz Jul 9th, 05, 10:09 AM WOW
This cowl tag is up to $760 with 2 hours left. Glad I don't need spend $760 to fool my friends. :clonk:
zdld17 Jul 9th, 05, 02:08 PM and sold there,, this tag musta been very valuable to someone.

William Jul 10th, 05, 12:17 PM 281533 is possible for 02D.

If you clicked the link, you should run virus scan.
burntbunz Jul 11th, 05, 10:49 PM Come on all you TC members!!
This is getting out of hand with these fake tags  Does anyone have knowledge of how a copyright law work? If I were GM and some clown was going to pocket this kind of money using false tags I would want to do something about it. It seems like fraud in my eyes so we can sit around and type stuff about this or figure out something that will stop these guys from doing this and getting away with it. I am not in law but I am not going to go and add some 0's to my $1 bill to make it look like something it is not then try to pass it on as a $100 or more etc.... Come on guys!
There needs to be some kind of mark or something to notify these are not orginal cowl tags from whoever is making them and it needs to be regulated with big time consequences for people or companies that don't do it with out written permission from GM. We all know it is deceiving the next guy for profit with these tags and hopefully Gm will care enough to get involved and get these so called human beings to shape up and stop the scams.
I personally can tell the difference for the most part but surely not as good as guys like Kurt so here is a challange if anyone is up to it, Let's again figure something out to protect us and our cars that are real from the crooks in this hobby.
Steve
Scott Taylor Jul 12th, 05, 06:52 AM I really liked this part:
The real experts don't have a problem with these, but they are clearly aware of the potential for misuse also.
I don't know what experts he was referring to but they certainly aren't the experts who frequent this board.

I just linked to it again and I have no indication that it is trying to download a virus. A scan of my system comes up clean as well. ????
