I drove the ragtop in the parade this morning, first one for me. It said in the local paper you could just drive up an hour before start time and go, so that's what I did.

Most (all!) of the other cars in the parade were stone stock, buncha early 'stangs, 4 or 5 model A's, misc other stuff. A very nice 69 pacer was the only other Camaro, and mine was the only car that wasn't stock, and one of just a few with manual trans.

Had to run the heater the whole time to keep the temp down, and I think my clutch foot is permanently toasted.

One thing's for sure, the crowd loves a Hot Rod!

Pics later when my wife gets em off her camera.

Jim:

Congratulations on your 1st
I can only image how well recieved a classic american hot-rod would be during a patriotic parade!
Hope this is the start of a fun thing for you and your family.

Parades can be a real fun time - if you have an automatic... :p
Learned that the hard way years a go with my 67 BB in a larger parade in So.Cal - though my left leg was gonna be num the rest of my life - I think I still walk with a limp favoring that side...
I also installed a "parade switch" (learned this from the Rose Parade participation sheet) that shuts off the brake lights so they aren't on all the time.

Having an auto, for the first time, made makes parades, grandopenings and homecoming nights much more fun.
Haven't been in one (or wanted to) for a while now - but, a friend I was talking with the other day said his daughter, who will be senior next year, asked him 'if he knew anyone with a convert'. Guess it's time to polish her up again...
