I am thinking of sending my carb off to this shop as it was recommended. Has anyone used them?

Guy:

Wow - next time I'm looking to 'bling' "my short" now I know where to get my 24k Gold done...

Seriously - I haven't used their service or know anyone who has yet.
But, it sure looks like they are trying to duplicate most of the services that have been offered by my favorite Carb-Place for many years - http://www.customcarbs.com/
I've used "the Carb Shop" for years and have never had problem one with any carb work they've done for me.

I do most of my own carb work. But, when I need surface restoration or certain machine work, like all the bushings replaced and new shafts, I send the carb. down to them to work their magic.

Hope someone has experience with them and chimes-in with feedback!

Try Sean Murphy Inductions - http://www.smicarburetor.com/

Sean built me an amazing Quadrajet Stage 2 carb custom for my engine and its amazing. He also does Holly carbs and very very good. He use to work for Jet and started his own business down the street in Huntington Beach

I sent my Holley to Holleys Custom Speed Shop in 2003. Carb came back beautiful! Only one slight prob, leaked a small amount of gas from the throttle bushing. I had a local carb guy correct rather than UPS'ing back to

What kind of costs did you see as well as turnaround time?

I shipped to them on 3/13/03. Arrived back to me on 11/17/03. If I remember correctly, the cost was @ $600.

That wasn't just for recoloring or plating was it?

That was for a complete carb restoration. I dug up my old invoice. The cost was $616.13. You should have seen the carb that I sent to them. When I opened the UPS box from them, I first thought they had sent me a new repo 800 (current date code)that they were producing a few years back. Upon further inspection, it was MY correct date coded carb.

I had The Carb Shop mod my 700DP which also included recoloring. It came back looking new with a much better fuel curve, etc. Took 4 weeks and $400.

Guys,
I had Quick Fuel Technology rebuild and restore the correct coloring for my Holley 800 spreadbore. The carb was rebuilt and sent back to me in about 3 weeks. If I remember correctly the cost was around $200. Marty Brown who is their carb guru, is a great guy and will do anything to help.

FYI

As referenced by John M, I contacted customcarbs and they will do a "Stage 2" for $310 with a 2 week turnaround. A stage 2 is recal of fuel ckts, mill body surfaces, new parts and dyno test.

Guy:

Looked through paperwork a couple times trying to find my last invoice from them...
Must have given it to the engine's new owner with the build sheet & invoices for machine work ???
I think it was for $324~328. Maybe that's with tax... :D

I hope you post back with your feedback on their work and carb performance.

They're great but the turn around was a tick slower due to their workload. I had the Stage 3 for $400.
