i have a 82 Z28, and i was wondering about a clunking noise. Whenever the car downshifts (auto tranny) there is a slight jerk, and a clunk that comes from underneath the car. Would this possibly be a loose driveshaft or something else??

If I had to guess I would say a bad universal joint on your drive shaft.

But it’s only a guess
