Aren't the correct blocks supposed to be 5583 and 4519? Everyone I have talked to say mine have been changed.

John Hinckley (JohnZ) recently sent e-mail to me and stated that mine have been swapped.

Forgive me...It has been a while since my last post.

I first posted this question back in '05 about having the wrong metering blocks on my 4053. Then the post died. Since then I have searched the internet to find anything on metering blocks for the Holley carb and have come up empty. Is there some kind of secret to metering blocks that no one is supposed to know? Can ANYONE help me out?

As per John H. the original 5583 and 4519 have been swaped out for a 5584 and 3828.

Any Holley restorers out there want to tell me what these metering blocks go to and where I can find the correct ones so I can get my carb redone?

Some links that you may be able to do research on your question

http://www.chevy-camaro.com/parts/chevy-camaro-part-codes-carb.htm

https://www.holley.com/34-6.asp

Could not find any carbs with the front metering block number but.......

found the rear number on this carb (http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-66-CHEVROLET-CHEVELLE-SS-396-375-HP-HOLLEY-3613_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414cadb2a0QQitemZ2 80459326112QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcc essories)

again on this carb (http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/780-Holley_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4ced740cb0QQitem Z330401320112QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fA ccessories)

JM might be able to help with this and a show quality rebuild.........Camaro High Preformance (http://http://www.z28camaro.com/restosvcs.html)

Hope this helps a little...

8ball...thanks for the replies. I found the first 2 links you posted a while back with no luck finding info.

The last 2 links didn't work for me, Internet Explorer wouldn't open them.
However I did go to the ebay adresses directly and found more info than I have in at least a year.

I noticed in my quest that there are others who are looking for the same answers and not having any luck as well. Thanks for the heads up on CHP.

I am only wanting to rebuild it at this point due to my budget, so I have a friend locally doing it for me (owes me a favor).

Thanks 8ball for your help. Now I have to research both carb numbers to verify if at least the rear 3828 block is correct for them.

Anybody?

Both of the carbs have the wrong blocks, front and rear according to
Cbtn.

I have questions posted at the Holley Carb Tech site but haven't had a reply so far.

If you really want to know and find out promptly call Eric Jackson at (937) 836-5927 or email him - sales@vintagemusclecarparts.com.

This guy is THE MAN when it comes to Holleys. he probably know more than Holley Tech.

Here's his website.

Hi Jonesy,

Just got off the Team Chevelle site.

Found out it is a service replacement dated 0811, and Eric told me that the blocks are correct for this carb. Now its decision time. Keep or sell.

Thanks everyone for the help solving this mystery.
