I am wondering how the Tremec TKO600 will match up with my 3.55 rearend gears. I am running a 500 horse 427 and is used mostly for cruising with the occasional strip outing. Does anyone run a similiar combo? I want an ideal first gear (not to low or high) and I just dont know if my rearend gears are going to be too high because of the TKO's higher first gear. I figured someone will have some answers here.

I think the 600 with the higher (numerically lower at 0.64) OD would be a great choice. Here's a recent thread with discussions on ratios. The TKO 500 would be out, because the 3.27 first is pretty low, but the 600 has a 2.87 first which should be perfect with 3.55s.

GMJim and JeffMort on this forum are two of the men behind Classic Chevy 5-Speed, and they are the best Tremec distributor I have found.

3.55's will work great with the TKO600.

I have the tko 600 with 3.73 gear. I am running a 383 small block. I love the tranny. I think 3.55 gear would be very good. You would not ant any higher gear.
