View Full Version : 12 bolt code break down Flynn69 Jul 12th, 05, 06:06 AM Can Any one break this code down. BM0815G1 Thanks Eric Kammerer Jul 12th, 05, 06:29 AM http://www.camaros.net/years/69/69rearcodes.html If it is a 69 Camaro rear, it was a 3.31 open 12-bolt, assembled August 15th at the Detroit Gear plant, 1st shift. Flynn69 Jul 12th, 05, 02:16 PM Thanks Eris, appreciate the info. Flynn69 Jul 12th, 05, 02:53 PM When I dumped the clutch, Both tires left rubber on the pavement. Any explanation to this. -------------------- 68 SS 4 speed sicsD8 Jul 12th, 05, 03:09 PM someone in the past may well have added a posi unit to it. jack up and safely support the rear and turn one wheel. If the other goes in the same direction it is most likely a posi, if the other goes in the opposite, it is most likely an open diff. Flynn69 Jul 12th, 05, 03:18 PM Eric ,I will post tomorrow my reasults. I,m use to 69,s but 68,s are a little different overall with decoding. But is this the correct rear end for a 350 4 speed. My drive train is a numbers matching. I havn,t found out what my trans is for sure. Thanks Flynn69 Jul 13th, 05, 06:17 PM After xcarefully jacking up my car today, I could find out if I had A posi unit. Funny , when I turned one wheel forward the other didn,t move. Went to the other side to move that wheel. Same thing,Moved the wheel forward and the other didn,t move. Can anybody explain this. I thought one wheel would go one way and the other would go the other way. red67L78 Jul 14th, 05, 04:51 PM Put car in gear and try it. Will then go other way. Thinking that when you turn wheel drive shaft is turning. Sometimes brake shoe drag will stop other wheel when turning while in neutral. Sounds like you have a non posi. Posi will not let you turn one wheel with out the other in same direction buy you turning by hand. Flynn69 Jul 14th, 05, 06:46 PM How about limited slip. sicsD8 Jul 15th, 05, 02:41 PM Posi traction = limited slip. |
