When you mix K-38 with the activator , do you need to wait 30 minutes like you do with the DP epoxy before you use it . And if you don't then what .

But if you want to follow the directions don't add the reducer until just before sparying it. WaynesWorld Jul 14th, 05, 03:49 PM I would not wait. I used this stuff for the first time on my car and it worked great, but mix it and use it. Its only got a pot life of about 45 min to an hour. If it dries, then your paint gun is junk. K-38 Product info (http://www.ppg.com/cr-refinish/phase1/frmFindProduct.asp) Scroll down to K38 High Build Primer Surfacer -Wayne Mark .L.W. Jul 14th, 05, 06:06 PM I'm trying this new K-2 high build on My firewall and subframe , I like it alot , goes on really nice and build very well . This stuff is made in Spain , and for a 4L tub and a litre of hardner was half of what the PPG K-38 was . I'm still going to use the K-38 on all the outside sheet metal I just can't bring myself to change now , but on the underside of the car I thought I would try this stuff . Mark . sevt_chevelle Jul 14th, 05, 07:15 PM k38 mixes in a 4:1 ratio with K201 hardner. there is no reducer needed in the primer. If you find yourself needing to reduce this primer you need to readjust your gun or get a bigger fluid tip. I personally use a 1.7 tip with k38. There is NO wait time on this primer. You can simply mix it in a mixing cup, stir good with a paint stick and spray. No need to mix it with a shaker, a good stirring with a stick will do just fine. I believe the potlife is 1.5 hr. Meaning you have 1.5hrs to spray this product before it starts to harden |
